I can't comment on the U.K. since I live in the US. I agree though with your general statement that there isn't particular value in becoming a martyr. So I agree the preferable approach is to go somewhere that is at least more free. In that vein I would like to leave the US. Even now it is already increadibly dystopian. On the other hand I would prefer to not rush and have a viable plan before running. So I really don't want to stay that much longer anyway, but I hope it will be realistic to not rush. I certainly can't see staying here the rest of my life even the way things are now, but we can only expect things to get increasingly worse.

I do not agree on getting involved politically. That seems to be counterproductive. But I agree there is no point in being a martyr and throwing away one's life. Just leave. Removing myself from contributing to the country and having my earnings stolen for evil purposes is probably the best thing I can do for the country anyway.
