This article will discuss certain safety measures that must be taken to ensure that you do not end up losing your entire funds. They are :

Always Make Use of Multiple Wallets
Since crypto transactions are fast, it is advised that you buy or download multiple wallets for various functions. It is best to have a wallet for a specific purpose. You can own a wallet for buying, for selling, and maybe one for exchange. It is wise to have as many wallets as possible. If any of the wallets you use supports the adoption of certain security features, it is best that you adopt and make use of them. For example, you can use the two-factor authentication system to add an extra layer of security to your account beyond your username and password.

Endeavor to Keep Your Saved Funds Elsewhere
Wallets and cryptocurrency exchanges happen to be two of the most accessible platforms to hackers, so it is important that you keep your saved funds in a separate account. It is advisable that you keep your savings at home or anywhere else that is safe.

Your Private Keys Should be Private
No one would deliberately leave their credit card outside for others to see, same as private keys. Your keys should be private, that is it should not be shared with anyone (except those you trust). If your keys happen to fall into the hands of the wrong person, he might get access to your tokens and have them transferred to his. This is very important, your private keys should always remain private.

Keep Vital Information Offline
Most times we store important information in our flash drives, this is because we do not want people to get access to them. It is wise to keep all vital information about your digital tokens, your private keys in a flash drive. This will help keep them offline. Also to ensure further security, it wise to make use of certain antivirus systems that will regularly check for malicious software.

Regularly Back-Up Your Data
If you do not want people to get access to your information, it is best to back it up. You have to regularly save any information about your tokens, private keys, your wallets and other necessary information by backing them up. It is important to do this consistently.

Avoid Using Public WiFi
Connecting to public WiFi must be a no-no to all crypto holders who do not want to lose their tokens. Most hackers have attacked their unsuspecting victims through public WiFi. You have to be very careful before you connect, but if you are not sure enough it is better you do not connect at all.

Great info. Thanks for posting. I would just add 1 thing...always use a VPN.

Agreed...a VPN is a must. Other than that, this is a very complete list.

@cryptoletter I'd like to add:

Always use a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply), one with a voltage regulator. Power surges and spikes can damage your equipment, stall a transaction or worse cause you to lose crypto entirely.

Never trade, mine or use crypto on a PC without it especially if you live in a third world country.

Today, the network is very often possible to hear complaints of users of wallets and cryptocurrency exchanges that their accounts have been hacked, and the funds are stolen and it begins to gain mass character. And the reason is quite simple and it is negligence in relation to the safety of their own funds or ignorance of the basic rules of security strengthening. I'm sure your article will help.

We'd also like to add to the first point: you should keep any crypto funds that you are NOT actively trading with in cold-storage, offline wallets. The investment in a NanoLedger or a Trezor is worth it!

Hope this adds a bit to your reading of this article! If you'd like more tips, feel free to reach out! :)

Great info. In order to be safe while using cryptocurrencies, primarily keep vital information offline and avoid using public WiFi.
