The QTUM team have created this fantastic new live map of the world showing where the QTUM nodes are located. It's a fascinating way to spend a few minutes to see where the nodes are located and concentrated. The project has recently completed their ERC-20 to QTUM token swap and holders are finally able to run nodes for staking on the main-net to earn real rewards.

South Korea—a hotspot for QTUM nodes

It's easy to see from the map that South Korea is the hottest hotspot when it comes to support for the QTUM network. There's a big cluster in and around the capital of Seoul as well as dotted around the country.

The Bay Area of California seems to be the next hottest region with QTUM, not sure if it has anything to do with the reason for the recent SF visit by QTUM team. In general, the hi-tech hotspots of the world are generally represented to some extent.

Be a node (and get rewarded)

To become a node, all you need to do is to get some QTUM tokens and hold then in your wallet for proof of stake rewards.

By doing that, you help secure and run the network and can earn staking rewards too. You can get QTUM from various exchanges including Bittrex, Binance, and Coinone (Korean).

The network weight has climbed quite a bit in recent days and is now pretty high at 11957016, so you'll need quite a lot of coins to get daily rewards. This blog explains nicely how the time to reward for staking is worked out. I expect to see the network weight continue to climb for a while yet as more people join in with the staking.

Thanks for sharing the information. I have never seen the nodes on map before. :)
