Have you ever tried to explain the Blockchain or Cryptocurrency to a person who doesn’t know the difference between a Blockchain and a Bike chain, or a Bitcoin from a Gold coin. Then let’s take a brief look at how you can use the Universe, to help explain the Blockchain & Cryptocurrency, drawing comparison and similarities from these seemingly uncommon entities.
In the Beginning
According to most astrophysicists, in the beginning our Outer Space was void of anything and everything, until that point in time when there was the Big Bang, that sent objects speeding outward to form and create what we call the Universe, consisting of Galaxies, Solar Systems, Planets, Suns, Moons, etc. According to last count, the observable Universe contains 2-trillion Galaxies (where the Galaxy we reside is called the Milky Way), and each Galaxy contains millions if not billions of Solar Systems, that just like our Solar System have Planets that revolve around a Star that offers them light, heat, and most importantly life.
A Big Bang is Essential
What we can first observe from above is that similar to the Universe, there was a time when Cryptocurrency didn’t exist, until such time when all the elements were right and reached a stage that created and detonated a Big Bang, that set everything into motion. Some would say the Big Bang event for this Industry occurred with the creation of the Blockchain, creating a Blockchain Universe which instead of creating Stars, Planets, and Moons. it created Coins & Tokens.
The Numbers are Large and Keep Growing
What the Universe also teaches us is that it is composed of Objects that is generally measured either in the Billions or Millions. Yet while the number of Cryptocurrencies are far from numbering in the Billions or Trillions, compared to the approximate 200-Countries in the World today (facilitating 200 different Country currencies), it may seem to many that there are Millions of Cryptocurrencies.
Similarly like the Universe, the Blockchain is expanding outward and getting larger & larger in terms of its footprint. Starting first with an array of Cryptocurrency Coins that continue to grow, and now with a plethora of Tokens that all keep on expanding.
A Symbiotic Relationship Holds Things Together
What we also know about the Universe is that as a totality it is like a living organism, where Gravity pushes and pulls on all of these objects (including Solar Systems & Galaxies), yet at the same time this dynamic gravitational action is literally responsible for holding the entire Universe together like a type of cosmic glue. Cryptocurrency is no different, in that Coins & Tokens have a relationship with each other, where you will find as an example that whatever direction Bitcoin takes, other Cryptocurrencies to a certain degree will respond in a reciprocating manner, so that at the end of each day each Coin & Token generally tries to maintain the same type of symbiotic relationship or ratio of value with the rest of the Cryptocurrency Universe. Furthermore, Cryptocurrency Coins & Tokens are all being held together by a type of Blockchain glue.
Worlds Take Shape and Relationships are Created
Before our own eyes we have also seen how Crytocurrency Worlds have formed similar to Solar Systems, where initially Bitcoin acted like the Sun providing the necessary life for so many Cryptocurrencies, and as a result various Cryptocurrencies revolve around Bitcoin as the center of their Solar System. Taking it even further, we have Tokens that that can act like Moons, and Revolve or orbit around certain Cryptocurrency Planets.
But now we even have the situation where new Solar Systems can take form (just like the evolution of the Big Bang), where one could say (as an example) that Ethereum is better served and described as the center of a separate Cryptocurrency Solar System, apart and instead of Bitcoin as their Center. However, do not think for a minute that it stops here, as other Crytocurrency Solar Systems take shape and formation over time, and collectively they will form an entire Galaxy.
Moreover, we have already started to see the formation and development of independent & separate Galaxies that’s apart from the Galaxy that holds the Bitcoin and Ethereum Solar Systems that we just described. One new separate Galaxy (as an example) is composed of various Solar Systems that utilize the Blockchain directly for traditional business needs or requirements, without offering any direct Cryptocurrency Coin or Token investment opportunities.
Back to the Future
What you see then over time is the creation and expansion of a true Blockchain Universe, with it’s own Solar Systems (with it’s own Sun, Planets, and Moons), having various independent Galaxies (that includes various Solar Systems).
We also know that the Universe often provides us beautiful Shooting Stars, and I am sure you have your own favorite Cryptocurrency that you would honor with this title. On the flipside though, our journey through space can possibly lead us to Black Holes, no differently than our involvement with Cyrptocurrency can similarly lead us to a hopeless Black Hole of sorts - - make sure you stay away from these.
Summary
In summary, I hope you’ve enjoyed this analogy, that may help you explain the complexities of the Blockchain & Cryptocurrency with the marvelous wonders of our Universe. Also, let me know if you can think of other analogies between the Universe and the Blockchain & Cryptocurrency that have not been mentioned here, or any corrections you would make to my analogies.
But in the meantime, now that you are a graduated Space Cadet, the next time someone asks you to explain Cryptocurrency, just tell them “Let’s look up to the sky for answers to all of your questions”.
Interesting take. I could combine this with sayings as 'shoot for the stars' and 'to space and beyond'. Personally, I like the narrative of single to double to - now - tripple ledger accounting. That also resonates with what people already know.
I agree, and you make some good points! This article is meant to compare completely unrelated "symbiotic entities" (Blockchain/Cryptocurrency vs The Universe), in a manner that has not yet been explored, in order to examine any similarities, and at the same time see if others are receptive to these new concepts. Thanks for your feedback!
Amazing..thank you for sharing ..
Thank You for giving it consideration!
