I just was able to recover my account after a frustrating 24 day lock out...to anyone else new...or been around...this blockchain world can be very hard to maneuver around...
What is fascinating to me...I could go and look at my account...see everyone else's positngs...just couldn't get my password to work...
What happened? Wish I knew for sure...had been logged in...may have left...went to go back in and told "incorrect password"....right around that time the steemit website got attacked...people were having trouble logging in...so I gave it a few days assuming it was something that would clear up...It didn't...
Found the "Account Recovery" process...fortunately I had my original "log in"..."key"..."password"...its still unclear to me what is what frankly...then got the generic email response back...eventually got email saying recovery approved...with a link...of course...link did not work...
Submitted again...found the steemd process...saw my account history...realized I hadn't set up my account thru Steemit website itself but thru a third party..."anon"...contacted them...
Fortunately sounded possible to recover...unfortunately I didn't have my order number...fortunately was able to see my original deposits I made to the Steemit account and could prove where those came from...
And here I am...thanks to Chris @ info@someguy123.com...kinda a magical process...not sure exactly who he is...didn't wipe out my account...purely a trust process when one feels they have nothing to lose...just one more blockchain experience I hope not to experience again!

Good point...its a constant learning curve...especially for old timer like me who has his hands full with the tech learning curve and terminology.

Must have been a very traumatizing experience. I commend you for holding it together for over three weeks not knowing if you would ever get back your account.
One thing steemit has that no other social network has is the wallet feature. This is real numbers we are talking about and it basically matters a lot when money is involved.
So true...but I was also saddened to think my blogging enjoyment was going to be lost as well...unless I started over which would have been hard knowing what was left behind...
Fortunately I learned not to panic and usually have a good sense that something will work out...sometimes you just have to keep digging...which is one of my strengths...

Yikes, sounds intense. I guess it's important to have our account set up through Steemit itself ans then have on hand our keys and password and all that important information saved up somewhere safe.
Definitely important to keep original passwords...keys somewhere safe..including a printout somewhere...
I wasn't able to set up through Steemit originally...kept getting message wouldn't recognize my phone number...so other option was used...once I realized that was the case...it went smoothly....
A lot of the concern is realizing just how little I know about how all this works!
