CRYPTO ANALYSIS....HYPE OR HOPE...EACH OF US MUST DECIDE...

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago (edited)

If you are anything like me...you remain involved with crypto currency for a number of reasons:

Its addictive...I admit it...I'm at work now but obviously not working...I love using this as a distraction...reading stories...blogs...checking coin prices and portfolio value...and I've convinced myself that its one of the healthier distractions I can have...

You have a vision on how this may change the world...when I first got on board I loved the concept...seemed like a no brainer...I'm older...but I see how my grand kids from day one have a screen in front of their face...I know that having cash in a "real" leather wallet is foreign to my children...its all digital...shouldn't money be? ...and a world wide connection? ...Wow...
It is a technology that could someday bring the internet to a whole new dimension...

You've made some money...face it...reward is sweet...I got in around 2014...bought some bitcoin...at that time had come down from its peak over $1,000 to $700 range...bought some more around $800....saw it go down to $600...bot some...then almost crash down to nothing so picked up some more around $200 each...then got lucky...hung in...it survived...then heard of Ethereum...decided why not? That did well...gave me incentive to be more active...look at other "altcoins'...buy....sell....win...lose...

Being at an age where I'm closer to retirement than not...You are afraid of where the country and world is financially...you have little faith in "paper assets"...believe the stock market is very over valued...think its a matter of time before all the debt and deflated interest rates play havoc with the current markets...don't remember the last time a bank paid you anything worth while on your money...do believe in real estate...but I'm not cut out to own and manage properties...and feel that gold and silver had its day and aren't very practical forms of currency should things go south...

Meanwhile....You've already "survived" multiple highs and crashes in this market but held on for dear life...and while its nerve racking to see what you've accumulated cut in half in just a matter of days...you like the constant test of your belief...enjoy trying to "read the market" ..."see the trends"....enjoy the hype...but keeping to the hope...and most important of all...feeling fortunate that for today...I live in a country that allows me this opportunity to ride this wave....

So I want to keep this door open in hopes that someday...the walls are brought down for all the citizens of this world....and just maybe...this "blockchain" is the building block to do just that....

Sort:

was trying to descibe blockchain and cryptos to a friend today :-) Being a tech autist this was a challenge... I guess I summed it up pretty much as you did... this "blockchain" is the building block once all wall of todays system are taken down - thank you for your post!!! cheers from the seven mountains in Germany

Thanks for compliment....Think of it as the internet on steroids having its own currency where regular people are the authority due to its decentalized nature...no one has control because everyone has control...the more I try and comprehend what that means...the more overwhelmed I am...greetings from New England area of USA...

I find myself at work doing the same thing. I am addicted to crypto-currency and the hopes it can bring. I love the Steem concept and wish other coins could adopt somethings similar. Steem has amazed me with all that it do on the social level. @cleverbot the wifey is calling

"I'm at work but obviously not working" hahaha, my mannnnn

Truth be told...I do work for myself...lol.

I had to press my hand on my mouth to not lol :D
I as well am working but obviously not working, it's like he says, it's very addictive!

Great post bobreedo – I'm going on 30 years old next year and started questioning this very question about my investments. This past week I took the plunge and bought into some cryptocurrencies, particularly BTC, LTC and ETH but only small amounts at the moment, with the goal to dollar cost average my way.

I too hope the world Governments and Banks will embrace cryptocurrencies.

First...thanks for the kind words...

Secondly...I admire your choice to take a chance...you will possibly be part of a major revolution...I also like your mature approach to it...as you say it has no guarantees...but as I've learned...nothing does...

Nice post, I like your point about physical money being foreign to people of the future. It's already happened to lots of things, music, books, newspapers, shops. Why think cash would be any different.

It seems like logical next step...think of the amount of money spent just to print currency...store currency...recycle currency...etc..

Thanks.

Bob, can you please help me to learn how to monetize a post? I see you make almost $10 /post sometimes in less than 24 hours! very cool, but I do not know how, I feel like my content is on par with what people want to ready, but I am getting no return.

Thanks,
JG

Believe me when I tell you...I am pretty clueless on how this all works...but...I do spend money on promoting my blogs which must move me up the ranks somehow...also...I think the promotion costs out weigh the money received back...as I learned...you have to spend money to make money!

Good luck...

Thanks for writing this, @bobreedo. I'm nowhere near retirement age yet, but I have noticed that as I get older my thinking shifts to more long-term analysis. I share your optimism. Hopefully the walls do come down.

I appreciate you taking the time to read and comment.

I appreciate having a forum to string some random thoughts together and receive feedback from around the world...frankly I' ve been taken back how much passion I've ignited while writing on some of these topics...both in me and with others....

I'm in awe how incredible members are in their presentations...pictures...tight paragraphs...varying fonts...including yours which look professionally done...the subject matters intense...not something one attempts to digest before conking out for night...

And yes...I hope this technology can provide future generations a more balanced...interpersonal...connected citizenship throughout the world...

Probably won't see it in my lifetime but it definitely feels like a new world model is beginning...

Someone to finally affirm my sanity at last hahaha!!! I do the same, although I'm a full time entrepreneur even when I still worked I did the same. Neglected tasks sometimes because I was busy with my cryptocurrency business. I still get shocked when I see hours flying past and all I've done was just crypto related. It's really exciting. Glad I got involved when I did.

Glad to hear going well.

I like your post. continue the great work.

Appreciate that thanks.

Awesome, I think if you aren't really good at researching investments you are doing and perhaps learning a little about technical charts you are basically gamling, though in the long run I think that one could put money into the leading coins and just forget them and come back in a year with your nerves intact :)

I read a lot...learning some things...don't stray too far from the well known or discussed coins...thanks

Bob,
I am 20 years old and just beginning to dip my toes into cryptocurrencies and find myself highly fascinated in the way they work, much like you have explained above. With my job, I developed a high curiosity about generational habits and I am curious, do you ever talk to those nearing retirement and see if they are dabbling in investments with cryptocurrency or do you find yourself being more of a lone-wolf in this area because of how volatile they are?
Also, thank you for taking the time to post this, I enjoyed the read.

Thanks for the kind comments...Not just my age group but I find people 40 and above skeptical or unaware in general about crypto currencies...people look at me like I'm speaking a foreign language when I mention it...and those who are investment savy often call it too risky or something that won' t last...It has a long long way to go before close to mainstream.

Being at work and not work, but investigate and improve your skills and thinking about future is much better than work, sometime. But not often, because you need to earn enough to invest to bitcoins lol.

All true...

@bobreedo man you write such good articles, so articulate and to the point, please don't upvote me,but give me some tips to write so good. Here is my first article

thank you

You are too kind...believe me...when I look at many of the articles and see how incredible they look...especially with all the graphics and pictures...I feel like a rookie...

My style is to be a bit direct...base it on my real life...add some humour...and try not to overwrite...

The beauty of such a large audience is you can't help but find others who enjoy reading it...meanwhile...find your style...think what you want to say...read it a few times to make sure it flows and let it rip...

And don't let the fact that everything we write is on the blockchain for eternity suppossedly never to get erased scare you! LOL...

Are you playing with the houses money? Meaning the money that you’ve made in bitcoin you’ve rolled into Steem dollars 💵. I think it is good to diversify your assets!

Yes...for most part pulled out original investment and spread out over 30 or so coins currently...
