It is a natural next step for blockchain and distributed networks to evolve into social medias. After the never ending Facebook scandals, why not put back ownership of data into the hands of its users? Steemit is btw an excellent example of how blockchain is a viable technology for social media. Steemit is powered by Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) using the Graphene blockchain. This is similar to what Blockbasis does, a platform that makes it easy to send and receive cryptocurrency via email. No more public or private keys, just good old emails!
