An open letter to the Crypto community

Hello Sirs and Madams,

For those who attempted to open and start reading this, thank you. And for those who are willing to finish reading this, who are willing to spare a minute of their life in reading this, I would really appreciate the thought.

In a country where the major problem is poverty, it is very hard to face each day without the knowledge and the capacity to understand what it is happening around us. Education indeed is a very important ingredient for surviving this life. Fortunately, I am already a well earning professional now. I was able to finish my studies thru private scholarships here in the Philippines. A scholarship program funded by good hearted businessmen. A million thank you would never be enough to thank the foundation that helped me shape my today, my tomorrow and my future.

After 4 years in the industry, I have learned to value education. I cannot believe that there are people who are taking advantage of people who does seem to lack education. Some people, instead of offering help, they make fun of them.

We have recently started (last January, 2017) funding a foundation consisting of a small group. A group advocating the following:

I. Education – teaching out-of-school youth how to read and write

II. Medical assistance – helping those who in need of medical assistance (by providing them funds for hospitalizations); the ones that doesn’t really have the means for hospitalization given that the situation of the sick is critical and does really needs urgent medical treatment

For the Education, currently, we are having regular weekend sessions with out-of-school children teaching them how to read and write. We are having rotations each week to areas (mostly squatters) to conduct a one-day session with our, let’s call them our students. We are not technically teachers, but the theory where a person teaches a person still applies. We are covering 5 remote areas at present.

The start of classes has begun, most of our students are asking if they can go to school.. I could see the enthusiasm in them to really experience actual school experience.. but sadly, and it is heartbreaking that we couldn’t do something about it. We started to raise funds, but doing the math, the amount were not enough to fully cover our beloved students expenses for school... these includes uniforms, shoes, notebooks, pencils, pens... and other miscellaneous expenses in actual school scenario. Originally, we were trying to raise funds to build a public library, which will be open to all that wants to learn, to read, and to write. But as a parent feel, you would want to give as much to your child.

On a different scenario, there are times where we would encounter situations where we would realize how lucky we are in life. I will be taking our current project as example. A member of our group, my friend, while riding a public transport jeepney noticed that a girl is lying on the driver’s seat. My friend asked, “Manong (this is a usual call for old guy aging mid 30s), is she okay?”, pertaining to the girl beside the driver. As seen in the picture below, you would see her hands as if like almost a bare bone covered in skins. The girl is so skinny. The driver said that the mother of his children, his wife, left them and never came back again. That is why he is trying to earn money in driving a jeepney, at the same time taking care of her daughter beside her. He has to earn a living in any way, or else they will not eat. We asked for the contact number of the driver so we could contact him, and would probably give assistance in as much as we can. In the past months, we were able to help 4 more cases like this.

We are currently raising funds for our current projects, but it appears that our sponsors from the past months have already closed their hands in helping us with our advocacies. I do not know if this is a right venue to pull this up, but I would like to give it a shot. We would want to try all the possible means to fulfil the very purpose of life... as we believe.. to care for others. It is our obligation to make the seed that was implanted in us, during the times when we were the ones who are in need, to bear fruits so we could also do the same. To pass on the legacy of being a gift to others onto to the succeeding generation.

I have just recently known crypto markets, have read about news, articles forums, and it does appear how quickly the money rotates in the crypto space. I have also read the very purpose of this digital currency, the blockchain. And it appears to me that somehow, the bottomline of the concept is to unite. A medium that is accepted globally, and can be used globally. So I have thought of trying the shot to reach out to this side of the internet. As of writing, I am pretty worried,  I have this feeling that this might just get ignored...  but I’d rather eat my pride and pretend that I do not care..

But I believe in this community, I do not know how is the best way to put this in words, but we want to continue helping out these out-of-school youths.. we want to provide scholarships for these needy children. We want to help more families that does suffer, and would make us think for a second that life is unfair...

We believe that, if we want abundance in our lives, it comes often the form of blessings through helping others. A tiny fraction of a profit would be really a great help for these needy.  An upvote would also be considered a blessing to us!

Be a blessing to others, and be BLESSED!

Thank you for sparing your time reading this. May the good Lord bless you more! Godspeed!
