Hmm. Well, I don't know if I agree with him. I haven't seen the interview or know the context of the comment. He's a smart kid, and I take my hat off to him for even understanding the concept of investing at age 12.
However, his comment betrays one thing; his lack of awareness of the world he lives in. For one, more than 99.9999% of the world do not have $1,000 full stop. Let alone, a spare $1,000 to give a kid to invest with. He is ignoring the silver spoon he was born with (from a global point of view).
Second, he is smarter than ME for sure :) . I knew about BitCoin it it's very early days. I even mined one :) - but I needed the hard drive space for photos or something and deleted everything on the disk.

You're right in so many ways! However there are people who rise from the toughest of situations and anything is possible if you make it. Not to be unaware of my surroundings but hey.. my entire crypto folio is from my earnings from steemit, I haven't invested a dollar of my own money.
