On Wednesday, March 20th, Jack took to Twitter with the screenshot below stating that Square, a financial services and merchant aggregator company, is looking to hire a couple of cryptocurrency engineers and one designer to work full time on cryptocurrency projects. Jack stated in his tweet specifically that these would be “open source contributions to the bitcoin/crypto ecosystem” and that you could work from anywhere, and report directly to him.
On top of the opportunity to get paid in bitcoin, Jack goes on to create a tweet thread explaining his decision for creating the “Square Crypto” twitter account and open source cryptocurrency projects. Jack stated that he was looking to impact the cryptocurrency community in a positive way, and was brainstorming how he could use his existing outlets to better the cryptocurrency ecosystem.
Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey recently has shed a lot of mainstream light on the bitcoin community through making Bitcoin available to buy and sell directly on the Cash App. The Cash App (formerly known as Square Cash) is an application that is developed by Square, and it looks like Square will be expanding its cryptocurrency outlets even further with an open source project.
Jack states later in his tweet thread that “this will be Square’s first open source initiative independent of our business objectives” and this open source project “will focus entirely on what’s best for the crypto community and individual economic empowerment, not on Square’s commercial interests.” On top of this, Jack states that “all resulting work will be open and free.” Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey is truly becoming a pioneer in the cryptocurrency ecosystem in terms of laying the beginning infrastructure for cryptocurrency project development.
On top of the overly positive developments that Jack is making in terms of applications in the cryptocurrency ecosystem, in the screenshot above he states that he is a big fan of the cryptocurrency and Bitcoin community. The Square Crypto twitter account @sqcrypto retweeted the legendary halfin “Running bitcoin” tweet from 2009 and has since tweeted a couple of times beginning to engage with the community. Overall, it is a very positive fact that Twitter CEO Jack is doing all he currently is for the cryptocurrency ecosystem as he has an immense amount of resources and outreach.
