I think that is termed "growing pains".
Yes there will be some drawbacks to a larger ecosystem but I think the benies outweigh the negative.
Spammers and scammers will be drawn to here...heck they already are. The community will need to figure out ways to counteract them. Perhaps a modified downvoting system which will enable people to target those types of activities without sacrificing too much of their power.
The biggest negative from right now is that a rather small number of people, proportionately speaking, are sharing in the reward pool. If you multiply that 10 fold, which could happen this year, then you are looking at smaller returns of SP. Of course, the hope is that is offset by the increase in the price of steem.
Overall, growth is good...STEEM has the ability to impact the world in a major way.
