This story is very raw with me. Last night whilst I was on the exchange I had everything stolen in front of me.
I was busy having a look at a trade I was going to do and was studying the charts. I went back to my funds and all my coins were on zero and had been changed back to bitcoin. At the same time I received an email stating withdrawl of funds and need to confirm. I tried to cancel it but was too late.
Binance said that there was nothing they could do as funds were already gone. My suggestion is there has to be a better and safer way to protect the user. My suggestion is a 12 hour delay on withdrawls so that you are protected from this sort of theft. I had no time to respond and I was on the site.
I phoned there helpline afterwards to see what happened and it rand 50 times followed by a GOODBYE. Not a great experience and they have done me a favor as won't be returning. Just seems too easy. I know a couple of other exchanges who have a delay on withdrawls and I am far happier to go that route.
They are obviously very good at this and just hope everyone doesn't have my luck. Be safe and be careful.
I had everything. What they did they came through a weakness in my security on my laptop. Thankfully that is now fixed. i was on Binance already and just went straight in. Have never withdrawn coins out of Binance before so was a bit shocked how quickly it happened. i understand other exchanges holding onto it for a day or so. That is why i am moving exchanges. They can't steal if there is a delay as you have a chance to stop it. Whole thing just sucks though. Just don't want to miss Tuesday now so will have to make a plan somehow. must be happening to hundreds of people. The call centre sucks. The whole back up sucked as they are not capable of handling it. Someone asked me yesterday if it was an inside job. I don't think so but you don't know. they need to close that loophole though. The time for withdrawls needs to be increased to help prevent this.
Hi cryptoandcoffee. Sorry to hear about the theft of your coins. That truly sucks. On Binance, do you use a password only or combination of password and Google Authenticator? There is also the SMS Authenticator which I also have turned on. Interested to know how if all these were activated and you were still able to be hacked?
