So I have taken the plunge and invested a little money in ripple. I now have 451.92 ripple......
Lets see how this one goes...... my newly formed portfolio of steem and ripple is taking shape..... I'm gutted that i missed out on all of the excitement for so long

But why Ripple??
I will let you know for definate. I was looking for a currency that i can possibly grow with.... i missed the excitement of getting into cryptocurrency early on so am hoping to have that experience of watching my money grow.... or not...... I have had a look at historical growth and I feel that there is still progress to be made on that coin. I could be wrong.... I am missing a lot of the expertise that a lot of people have..... and u get confused with all of the conflicting information..... I have some mining contracts with genesis mining for dash and am hoping to build my steem power. I have some bitcoin too in a separate wallet so its just another to add to my small portfolio.... I'm not afraid to say that I'm new to the whole experience so happy to make mistakes xxx
All these alt coins are confusing..at this point, am considering bitshares or burst.with no background in this stuff, the risk is much higher.
you seem to know where you're going so it will be interesting for me too and learn some points.
I'm glad its not just me that finds it confusing. There's just so much background information to read. I'm finding it all quite addictive and exciting and am prepared for losses. X

you'll find your feet... buy ice-creams when they're cheap, sell them when it's hot ! best thing to do is research the different coins and find out what's behind the ticker ( XRP) is ripple's ticker BTC, LTC, etc.. if you think, hey that sounds like a great project that is going to change the world.. buy some before everyone else does.. that's the basics covered.

However, there are new ones coming out all the time ! They have CrowdSales to raise capital for the project and they publish a WhitePaper which explains the overview, how it will work, what the rewards are, if there's a profit share, etc.. (usually the money raised is in BTC or ETH) or similar or maybe USD$ ..you can buy into them at the ground floor price just like an IPO of company shares when they list on Stock Exchanges
