Starbucks will start supporting BTC payments by the end of the year thanks to Bakkt

The publication notes that only residents of the United States will be able to pay with Bitcoins at Starbucks at first. To do this, they will need to use the software Bakkt, which allows you to convert cryptocurrency in cash.

It is worth noting that Starbucks is not an investor of the Bakkt platform, but both companies have benefited from this partnership. For example, the owner of Bakkt for cooperation with such a well-known brand agreed to transfer Starbucks a share in his enterprise. The size of the share is not specified, but the source claims that it is too large, given the conditions of the partnership.

Now, according to The Block, the coffee giant is actively involved in the development of maps and applications that will allow it to become the first merchant on the Bakkt platform.

Earlier, Starbucks press service clarified that the chain of coffee shops will not accept Bitcoin directly, but customers will be able to "convert digital assets like Bitcoin into US dollars and pay with them."
