Mitoshi Kaku‏ @CryptoSays
There’s only one thing worse than following advice from a perma-bull/bear and that is following advice from a bad TA. Look for a clean and consistent analysis. You don’t need 27 indicators to predict price. Don’t let others less skilled with a dumb bias cloud your judgement.

Mitoshi Kaku‏ @CryptoSays
A red candle rarely gets an instant bounce, stop the knife catching. Let the chart develop its patterns and study that to understand the real direction, you’ll get plenty of opportunity to enter a position. Let the trade come to you.

Gat‏ @CryptoGat
At its core, bitcoin is a network. The strength of the network has more than doubled recently and continues to grow significantly yet the price is dropping. Imagine if Facebook (another network) doubled the amount of users, yet the price was at a 80% discount

The Crypto Dog‏ @TheCryptoDog
How long do you really get to "buy the bottom?" If it's the low $6000s, then we are getting ample opportunity.

If you are long term bullish on #Bitcoin, the low $6000s is a good place to begin averaging in. We could see much lower prices, and that's not a bad thing. The bear market is a game of accumulation. Be patient with your capital and average in slowly. Trade the flips if you must.

FACEBOOK

Randall Crowder
Most people who know me know how I leverage TA, but here's a little tip that has paid off well for me in the past during bear markets: I look for counter-consensus price action. For example, a lot of folks looking at BTC felt like a quick drop to support around $6200 was imminent (i.e. we discuss a lot of this real-time information over in The Watchers Crypto Brief). When these "flash drops" occur, you usually see a similar red candle for most alts. I look for ones that barely respond, if at all. I love seeing three of my largest positions shrug off BTC: DGB, XLM, and XRP. It doesn't always happen, but it's telling.

      Abdull Hamud
Hey Randall, I just wanted to clear this up: when you mention that you look for the alts that respond only a little, if at all, to bitcoin dropping, are you implying that you short them because a drop is imminent? Or that those alts that don’t drop are good alts? (So it’s a good idea to buy into them)

      Randall Crowder
... more the latter. I have long talked about decoupling from BTC. This isn't really it in the truest sense but I like when I see an alt hold it's ground. Not a clear indication of value, but another variable I consider in my personal algo

      Abdull Hamud
Randall Crowder cool now that I reread your comment a few times it was clear that you meant more of the latter, but I just wanted to make sure; I’m so used to seeing a bitcoin drop correlating to all the alts dropping, so the whole “find the coins that don’t drop” is new territory for me.

Shah Zubair
I just joined this group moments ago and I was wondering what is everyone’s thoughts on bitcoin cash? Is right now a good time to buy?
I’m thinking about buying and holding on until the end of December

      Cortez Lisa
Bitcoin (BCH) is going to have a fork soon, it might actually split meaning you get 2 coins. Might be a good play for sure. Long term I think it will be the biggest winner if it becomes cash

      Andres Garcia
ShitCoin pumped by Roger Ver who tries to re-write History and sell BCH with deplorable methods

      Kevin Rands
False. You don’t know what this is about. You don’t understand why bitcoin is going to fall flat on its face during the next bull run like it did in 2017 with $50 fees and weeklong transaction times.

You don’t understand why there was a fork. You’re just parroting BS you’ve heard everyone else say. I highly recommend you actually educate yourself on why BCH forked and Bitcoin lost 45% of its market dominance to other coins.

I’m getting exhausted seeing shit comments like this that reflect zero actual intelligence on Bitcoins serious crisis in scaling. You may not agree with Roger or like him. But you have a social obligation to know what you’re talking about on a technical level.

I recommend that everybody educate themselves on what is happening with Bitcoin Core (BTC) and Bitcoin Cash by keeping an eye on the uncensored Bitcoin subreddit: r/btc

Understanding how the current structural changes to Bitcoin will affect its original social and humanitarian purpose of “banking the unbanked”, and providing financial sovereignty to the poorest in the world, is paramount.

Purchasing Bitcoin Cash is a political bet.

It’s a safety net / diversification coin that should be viewed as a 1-3 year play.

It’s a bet that hedges against the risk that BTC loses more market dominance when the next Bull Run comes and transaction fees hit $50 again due to its block chain being crippled by a centralized corporation with other plans for it.

It’s a bet that a crippled bitcoin will no longer disrupt banking, and will no longer onboard the poorest in the world to a financial system independent of governments and banks.

It’s a bet that this will adversely affect BTC’s chances.

It’s a risky bet. I think it’s far more logical the BTC will continue on, and BCH will continue to grow .... as those who care about “bitcoin for the people“ grow in numbers. The next bull run is going to create a lot of converts just like the last one did. A nonfunctioning BTC is useless. Quite simply.

But most of all do me a favor. Understand what’s at stake here on a technical level, and don’t participate in the shit talking / low IQ parroting of BS people do with Bitcoin Cash.

This is a scaling issue with serious humanitarian elements at stake. The humanitarian purpose stated in the Bitcoin white paper is the reason the Crypto ecosystem ever gained ANY traction in the first place.

The trash talking distracts from the real technical / social issues on the table.

BCH has nothing to do with Roger, Craig, or any of the other strange people who want it to succeed. These people are hard-core libertarians and they aren’t exactly my cup of tea. But on a philosophical level they are correct. They fought tooth and nail for Bitcoin back in the day, and now fight tooth and nail for Bitcoin Cash because it’s a functional block chain that can fill the social goals it set out to.

So: Do you want to take the bet that a crippled Bitcoin may struggle in the future?

BCH is how you take that bet.

It’s a high risk bet. But it’s a top three coin. And I do believe it’s going to grow.

But I also believe BTC has first-mover advantage and that most people don’t give a rats ass about the social and humanitarian benefits Bitcoin was supposed to bring. So it will probably continue on, even if it no longer functions under its original purpose.

Abdull Hamud
I wanted to know what you guys think about this thought I’ve had recently: I’m trying to think logically, and it seems that because bitcoin hit $17,000 to $19,000 in december/January then came crashing down to about $6,000, is it possible that bitcoin won’t reach those same high December/January values in a long long while? Because whenever it even inches close to those values, people will just sell a ton every single time, resulting in crashing the price way down. The reason they’d sell a ton if it got to $12,000 or $15,000 or whatever, is because everyone is going to think it’s gonna crash again soon and they’d wanna pull out before it crashed (this would, of course, cause the same crash that they feared)

      Mark Crook
Bitcoin always does the opposite to what the majority does. if people sell at 20k it will blow straight past 20k and shorts will be forced to buy back at a higher cost.

      Abdull Hamud
Lol so you’re saying that because people were expecting it to go higher than 19,000 in 2017, it ended up crashing down? But now that everyone is expecting it to crash again like that, it’ll shoot straight up? It’s like I know that logic is faulty, but damn I agree with u haha

And to be clear, the crash that happened in December/January, the majority didn’t sell right? It was just a select few who owned bazillions of bitcoin who sold?

      Tris Tan
Yeah, that's what will very likely happen. When the majority thinks it goes up, it will go down. It sounds completely stupid, but it's often the case.

      John Fedock
Bitcoin crashed last year because it was way overbought and increased too quickly, not because $19,000 was some magical number.

The best advice I can give you is the advice I was given: Take those nuggets and run with them. Educate yourself. Get a Trading View account and play around with it. Pull up Investopedia when you have technical questions, or else get a good book on the markets like this one. (link below) DYOR. It’s not that I don’t want to help — I’m a teacher at heart (although not by profession) and actually want to answer all your questions. But if I do that, I’ll make you dependent on me, rather than being more dependent on yourself. That’s the best advice I can give on those points.

What is the service used for buying gift cards with Dash for every-day shopping?

I've heard about this from that interview with Joel Valenzuela, and randomly here and on youtube, but I always forget the name of the service. What is it?

      Antti-Kaikkonen
purse.io?

      Thethrowaccount21
Mmm, no that's the service for buying things off of amazon using Btc or BCH I don't think they accept Dash yet, maybe via shapeshift. This service was supposed to allow you to buy giftcards with crypto so you don't need Cash in real life. Seems like a pretty big use case...

How many Dash is the monthly budget currently?

Isn't it nice to not only be able to ask simple, yet important questions, but to also receive answers to them in a definitive, verifiable and speedy manner? I mean, I know it's just a number on a link, but try getting a definitive statement on the budget, its availability etc. from Congress. Or the FED. Do they even know how much money they're spending/printing/wasting? With Dash's governance, we know down to the cent Satoshi Duff. Wild times, man.

Dash CEO: Dash Is Essentially Focused on Payments Use Case -CoinNess.com
by CoinnessPress

Ryan Taylor, the CEO of Dash, said in a recent interview that Dash is a payments-oriented digital currency and there are a lot of different use cases for it. He further added that Dash is essentially focused on the payments use case wherein several improvements over the Bitcoin code base that Dash forked from has been made.

"Dash has enhanced privacy features and faster transactions. We have transaction speeds of about a second and a half and that's on par with what you would expect from a credit card authorization. It makes us viable at the point-of-sale which we're seeing in a lot of different markets like Venezuela right now," Taylor stated.

Airdrops Have Started Rewarding EOS Holders For Voting
by ChrisHenery

Publyto and Pateros are the first to do this. Who knows what and when the next one's will be, so best to leave your EOS staked and vote every few weeks so you don't miss out.

I think this is great. The more people that vote, the more people that stake. The more people that stake the less the circulating supply which should push the value of EOS up.

EOSBet Dice Lowered Minimum Bet to 0.2 EOS
by EOSBetCasino

After making some massive improvements to our server architecture, we have significantly lowered our minimum bet to 0.2 EOS! Prior, we had a minimum of 1.0 EOS, but we are now confident we can handle the volume!

Please note that is this experimental, and might be raised or lowered at any time! But, we are committed to having a low minimum, because all players should be able to enjoy gambling at a level they feel comfortable.

We are going to be announcing some more features soon, but our primary focus is ease of play, and ease of on-boarding. It's still too hard to make an EOS account and interact with dapps! We will do our part to fix this, let's get the first one million users into the EOS ecosystem!

What are the factors that will lead to increased adoption of decentralized exchanges? (and hence DAI)
by IAmAStableCoin

From my understanding it seems that DAI adoption will grow with the adoption of DEXs.

What are the factors that will lead to this?
Right now, the adoption is very slow.

      krollAY
I don’t think dai is limited to use with dexs, and actually is already a trading pair on HitBTC, a centralized (and pretty shitty) exchange.

But anyway to offer my opinion on your question, I think dexs are currently limited because of their low liquidity, volume, and slightly more complicated process (ie conversion to weth on Radar relay). Also most higher profile traders buy and sell alts using bitcoin, not ethereum

The Code is Ready
MakerDAO

A update from CTO Andy Milenius

The code for Multi-Collateral Dai is ready for release. This represents one of the most historic days in the history of our ambitious project, on par with Rune’s famous first Reddit post. All of the efforts of the Maker development community have been leading up to this moment, and all further efforts will flow from the release of this code. I have said for years that the work truly begins when Multi-Collateral Dai launches, as now the MKR holders have to earn their position as the finance backbone of the blockchain using their sound judgement and competitive entrepreneurship.

Today is not only important as a milestone for the Maker community, it also marks the first time ever a major dapp has been formally verified. As the Maker developer community we hope to continue to lead the way along the cutting edge of smart contract safety by producing educational material and encouraging all blockchain developers to get familiar with our existing proofs, which currently cover the entire CDP core engine contract. As always, you can ask questions in Maker chat if you are interested in reviewing our code and learning more about
formal verification.

Weekly Update
Cypherglass

The Cypherglass infrastructure team had another interesting week. We remain in the top 21, and have moved around between number sixteen and nineteen. Currently we are sitting at number nineteen and happy to be producing blocks. A big shout out to the token holders that keep voting for us. Let’s take a look at what went on this week…

We finished testing and upgraded most of our nodes to NodeOS version 1.2.4

Those nodes the were upgraded to 1.2.4, started experiencing multiple problems. Nodes would slowly get behind on blocks and then would eventually stop responding. Most of the time we were able to just restart NodeOS and the machine would catch up and continue. Occasionally some machines required a replay. This went on all week, and we were constantly restarting/rebuilding nodes. Because of our redundant architecture these problems didn’t have any effect on token holders, or our ability to produce block. They just made it tough on our infrastructure team, making sleep a little more difficult than usual.

Join the EOS Detroit Team and Earn Bonus BOID
EOS Detroit

What is BOID?

Boid acts as a gateway, lowering the barrier to entry for non-technical users to directly participate in blockchains and distributed computing projects. Boid has a social network layer, where users can join together in teams and compete on global leaderboards. Participation on Boid is all about increasing your Boid Power rating. To increase your Boid Power, you either need to contribute computing power by running the Boid application on your devices, or invite people using your invite link. To increase your Boid Power, you need to install the simple Boid application on your device or run the “in browser” web miner for tablets, mobile and unsupported operating systems. The Boid application runs in the background, transparently taking advantage of unused computing power.

Blockchain and Art: Is This Even Possible?
genEOS Official

Those interested in blockchain understand that one of the technology’s advantages is that it can act as a digital incorruptible ledger. It turns out that all the spheres using intermediaries can benefit from blockchain.

Arts is no exception. In addition to disintermediation, blockchain can open up such new opportunities for art holders as co-ownership, price monitoring, and many more.

A Thorny Question About Artwork Authenticity

The Independent evaluates the share of fake arts placed in museums to be at least 20% of their total quantity. If museums are full of faked masterpieces, how much of such stuff is there at private collections, and how to make sure you buy a genuine piece of art?

EOS Dispute Resolution & Arbitration Working Group — Summary Sept 10–17
Amy Wan

This Week’s Summary:
Here are updates on the conversation around dispute resolution for EOS this week:

  1. Joint Community Call with Amy Wan (Chair of DR&A Working Group) and EMAC Livestream of call is available here (English)

Without a base layer of dispute resolution, EOS would effectively become a faster Ethereum. People do not contemplate transactions going sideways, so will not generally specify a dispute resolution process (through opt-in).
There are some principles to take into account when designing this system: fairness, consistency, efficiency, scalability. The last is important because you must plan for a network with mostly $20 disputes, not $10,000 disputes.
Agrees with ECAF should get funding to initially go hire and train arbitrators to handle the backlog of disputes because there is no marketplace right now.

Off-chain Tokens and Anonymity on EOS
Novusphere

Anonymity and fungibility are without a doubt two big weaknesses to blockchains such as EOS and Ethereum where a single account is used or a single address is used repeatedly. In Bitcoin, you have at least some degree of pseudo-anonymity through the encouraged use of one time use addresses as Bitcoin transactions output to a change address whereas EOS/Ethereum transfers merely deduct from a balance.

Projects such as Monero undoubtedly shine when it comes to bringing the ever so needed privacy and fungibility aspects to cryptocurrencies. This is done through the use of technologies such as ring signatures, confidential transactions, etc.

One reason these features have not been implemented in Bitcoin is the fact they greatly affect scalability as transactions get much larger. While other optimizations are surely to come such as bulletproofs this will not change the fact that Monero’s block reward does not trend to zero unlike Bitcoin’s but rather ends with a tail emission leaving some degree of inflation.
