The Opera browser team started experiments with the built-in crypto currency purse, which will be built into the mobile version of the application. At the moment it is in the state of beta testing.
According to the developers, this will be an excellent addition to the function of protection from hidden mining, which was introduced last year. In addition, the developers explained that the crypto-currency purse was designed with the aim of maximum convenience in use. When carrying out transactions, the wallet uses the built-in security mechanisms of the Android system, so there is no need to create new PIN codes or passwords.
"The presence of a crypto-currency purse in a web browser will bring new experience to the world of online payments. We simplified the payment process so much that it became like a normal transfer of electronic money from your phone. This approach opens up new opportunities for sellers and content creators, " - said the head of the product Opera Crypto, Charles Hamel (Charles Hamel).
The beta version of the application so far only supports Ethereum, ERC20 tokens and collectible items in the ERC271 token format. However, the developers said that the list of supported crypto-currencies will be expanded immediately after the first reaction of users, their feedback and wishes are evaluated.
In addition, the developers have integrated the Ethereum Web3 API into the Opera's crypto-currency wallet, which may contribute to the development of decentralized applications.
"We believe that today's Internet will be the interface for a decentralized network of tomorrow. Our main task is to create conditions for expanding access to the Internet in the future. Thus, we hope that this will accelerate the transition of the cryptocurrency from speculation and investment to practical use as an everyday means of payment, " Hamel added.
