Zero Knowledge Proofs under Sidera Technology

in #crypto6 years ago (edited)

Hi, my crypto cuite pies! I continue to make a short articles about Sidera Watches. To get to know what is Sidera in general, please, check this post, to understand the security layer of the software, go here. This post discovers the gist and work of cryptographic technology - zk-SNARK, which is used by Sidera

INTRO

The goal of Zero Knowledge Proofs is to ensure that the verifier can ascertain that another actor possesses a secret parameter, called a certificate which satisfies certain requirements, without disclosing the certificate to the verifier or to anyone else. This technology is already used by such successful and private coins like Zcash. Let's consider the example to understand it better.

Creepy Babe

Let's imagine the following challenge:

You want to invite a girl to your apartment for some urgent and important reasons. The girl wants to be sure you really have your own den, moreover she prefers quite intelligent guys. So, she says:

Prove you have a key from a respective door, but in any case you can't:

  1. Show key

  2. Show the process of opening the door

  3. Even show from which direction you opened the door.

After she noticed your desperation, she suggested you this picture as a hint:

After giving the matter some thought, nontrivial solution has finally come.

The black bar at the bottom is the door. She stands at point A, you are at point B. She doesn't see which way you go (to point C or point D). You choose which way to go randomly and go. After that, she passes from point A to point B and says: "Come out from the side of C" (or B, also randomly). And you exit from point C. If you conduct such an experiment only once, then the probability you have deceived is 50%. You could initially go to point C and then you would not need to open the door. However, if you carry out such an experiment at least 20 times in a row and every time you go out from the side with which the inspector speaks to you, then the probability that you do not have the key to the door becomes prohibitively small.

So we were able to prove with a prohibitively high probability we still have the key, without showing either the key itself, the opening process, or even from which side we opened the door.

As I mentioned in previous posts, Sidera devs pay much attention to security features and privacy itself. Moreover, they plan to launch decentralized Continuum Exchange, which is considered to become faster than existing ones partially due to their Proof-of-Load protocol, Intersect principle and much more. Also the platform offers really cool conditions for miners (Balancers). All the details will appear in the next post.
