EOS Dapps Marketplace and How to use it

in #crypto6 years ago

As you all are starting to get used to dapps within Paytomat Wallet, we wanted to take some time to explain how those work and how can you use them in your mobile device.

First and foremost, let’s understand how do EOS dapps (decentralized applications) work. EOS dapp has a similar behavior as an ordinary application on your laptop or your phone. It uses the resources (CPU, RAM, NET) of its operational system (in our case EOS), records data to reliable immutable database (blockchain) and performs actions based on a very secure technology called smart contracts.

EOS Dapps Readme
The most important features you must be aware of while working with EOS dapps are the following:

  1. You don’t pay fees when you trade on exchanges or play your favorite game. Instead, you use your EOS account’s resources. So, if you need to make dozens or hundreds of transactions in a short period of time inside your dapp, make sure to have at least 10–15 EOS staked for both CPU (used during each operation) and RAM (used if dapp stores temporary data in memory). In general, we recommend having at least 5 EOS staked for each of your resources in order to use your wallet comfortably. The cool part is that CPU is renewable, so you don’t have to worry about topping your account every time.

  2. Most of the EOS dapps have an identity layer and allow you to login into their software with your EOS account. Those are, for instance, Scatter* and SimpleWallet login. Paytomat Wallet has an emulation of Scatter login which basically proves that you own an active private key of your EOS account. In some dapps you’ll be automatically logged in, in others you must do it manually. This feature allows you to see your balance, account name, transaction history and sign transactions in this particular dapp. *Scatter is a desktop app, an interface that allows to manage EOS, Ethereum and Tron private keys thus, creating an identity layer for easy management of those blockchains.

  3. A lot of dapps have referral programs where you can invite friends and receive percentage from their wins or something else according to reward program’s rules. If you want to participate, simply login with Paytomat Wallet or Scatter on your laptop, copy your referral link and get ready to share.

Paytomat Dapp Marketplace
At the moment our wallet has 3 categories of dapps: exchanges, games and tools. We want to give a brief overview of each category and how to work with them.

Here’s a complete list to this date:

Exchanges: Newdex, Chaince, DEXEOS, EOSPark

Games: BigGame, Bethash, BETX, DICE, Endless Game, EOSBET, EOSlots, pixEOS Paint, Poker EOS, Trust Dice

Tools: Karma

1) Exchanges

Exchange is a place where you can trade your crypto assets. If you’ve been in crypto for a while you know how important it is. Each exchange provides liquidity to hundreds of tokens and individual cryptocurrencies, something that wasn’t possible years ago. The basic rules for trading are simple: you buy low and sell high.

Newdex is one of the biggest dex platforms and quite straightforward to start with. To make your first trade, open a market tab in the bottom menu, pick an asset pair (PTI/EOS for instance) and choose to buy or sell. There are two types of orders here: Limit and Market. Limit allows to set your own price, market buys/sells the whole size of your order from the orderbook. We recommend using Limit orders because you never know how much market orders can affect the price.

Here’s an example of PTI token purchase:

After confirmation your balance will be charged immediately since EOS is extremely fast.

Chaince is a bit harder to navigate due to a lack of mobile optimization. Yet it is a very powerful exchange. To place your order, you go to the top right corner and hit Exchange. Then the process is pretty much the same as in Newdex, except for the fact that you have to login with your email first.

DEXEOS is the easiest one but you also must sign in manually. To do that, you can go to the top right corner, click sign in and choose Sign in with Scatter. The rest is the same as on Newdex.

EOSPark is one of the best block explorers. You can vote for Block Producers and perform various actions with smart contracts. If you like to practice, you can search for a specific smart contract you’re interested in, or browse via the top list, click on Contract Actions and see all the actions supported in this specific contract. Typically, the contracts are used by dapps so you can dig into dapps deeply which is pretty cool. It’s quite an advanced feature so feel free to ask questions if you have any.

This is how it typically looks like:

2) Games

At the moment the majority of EOS games fall into gambling category. This is something we can’t advise to use, since it’s forbidden in a lot of regions. So, make sure to check your country’s laws before hitting Roll The Dice button.

However, we still support such applications because they are decentralized, and nobody can control, censor or forbid them. To play the game you need to know the rules which you can find on its website, as well as being logged in via Scatter. If you’re not logged in, you’ll be notified so don’t worry much about it.

There’s one cool dapp that we found interesting though — pixEOS Paint. It’s a pixel-based canvas where you can purchase some space and draw whatever you want on it. It’s a unique concept so be sure to check it out.

3) Tools

EOS tools consist of dapps that provide utility for its users, including their monetary and social life.

The first app that sits in this category is Karma, a novel way to social media on blockchain. It has a built-in wallet, feed, search, followers/following option and even a reward system. In short, everything you can expect from a modern social media. Check it out, it’s not that bad.
