My thoughts on Crypto - A first post.

in #crypto7 years ago

So I wrote a tweet the other day that got a ton of likes and a couple of negative comments and I wanted to expand on what I was saying. The Tweet was this:

"Everything is tied to Bitcoin regardless of what people want to tell you. It determines the climate of the entire market. When it crashes, people pull out of alts to buy more, when it rises people pull out to FOMO in, when it remains stable, Altcoins are king. My take anyway."

So what I was saying here is that we have tied ourselves to a bi-polar, angry God. Bitcoin is a great thing, I really believe that, but I feel like we have taken a great idea, centralized a system around it, and then get angry when it preforms poorly and everything drops. We have to find a better way. I do not necessarily have the answers for how to fix it, there are people much more intelligent than I working on that and not getting anywhere.

Many of the negative comments stated that this is incorrect and nothing is tied to Bitcoin. I will have to agree to disagree with these people because if you look at the charts, they tell the story I have outlined above. When BTC rises or falls the altcoins suffer, when it's stable, the altcoins rule. This leads me to believe that we need to find a way to value this currency without using another currency...

I think the Crypto-space has a problem, we are dreamers. Now, don't get me wrong here, dreaming big is awesome, We look at how the world "could be" but, don't spend enough time looking at how the world is at this moment. We want everything to change right now instead of working toward that change in a way that both makes sense and eases adoption of something. It reminds me of the story about a frog in a pot of water, if you slowly rise the temperature, the frog will remain, if you throw the frog into a boiling pot, he will try to jump out. The world is the frog, Crypto is the water.

The only reason we are seeing so much money pouring in from the outside world is because people think they will become overnight millionaires off of this volatility, this will continue and will get much worse I think. The manipulation of this market will become a blight and Wall Street, the Whales, and yes normal people will kill this before it has a chance to flourish. Many people don't mind playing the game, but no one wants to play in a rigged system.
