LISK

What is Lisk?

Lisk makes it possible for developers to develop their own blockchain applications and to publish them with their own blocks and side chains. Lisk is also seen as an open source platform. Lisk was announced to the public market in the first quarter of 2016 and the release took place around the end of quarter 2. To become a member of this network, or to use it, you only need to download the Lisk wallet.

Lisk also has its own currency, just like many other blockchain platforms. The currency of Lisk is LSK. It has a market cap of $ 3.6 billion USD and is therefore in the top 20 crypto currencies. An LSK token now costs around $ 30.

It is often compared with Ethereum. This is actually not surprising as both are blockchain platforms on which developers can make applications. The biggest difference is that Lisk offers the option to make these blockchain applications via a sidechain network on the Lisk blockchain. Ethereum allows its developers to make this application on the Ethereum blockchain via a virtual machine.

How does Lisk actually work?

One of the most important goals that Lisk has set for itself is to make it easy for developers to be able to make decent decentralized applications. Via a number of steps you can grant yourself access to the Lisk protocol and use the blockchain application. Developers can store a code in .zip on the web server and then store names, descriptions, tags and download links.

As soon as the application is ready to start, Lisk functions as a decentralized server and, as Lisk says, "end users and developers can find third-party nodes to run future blockchain applications via servers all over the world in a decentralized manner".

Lisk is built on a Dpus algorithm that originated from BitShares. It differs from the rest because only the top 101 delegates can actively secure the network. Lisk functions through these 101 individual blocks.

Use Lisk

The platform is very easy to use. It works according to a six-step process, after which you can get started. You first create your own Lisk account, you buy a number of LSK tokens (this reinforces the network and your own wallet), you configure your account and start using the Lisk tools. You can then get started with developing applications when you are familiar with JavaScript. It works simply, quickly and reliably. As far as we are concerned, a very good and safe platform!

Difference between Lisk and Ethereum

Besides the fact that Lisk calls her apps 'decentralized applications' and Ethereum calls them 'Dapps', there are a number of other larger differences.

Lisk uses JavaScript as a written language and Ethereum uses Solidity.

Lisk uses side chains to store applications, while Ethereum keeps applications on the main chains.

Lisk has a fixed platform with tools, while Ethereum has a virtual machine (EVM).

The team

Lisk was founded by the developers Max Kordek and Olivier Beddows. The initial Lisk release took place on May 24, 2016. The project started as a hardfork and ICO. The ICO raised $ 5.8 million, making it a very successful cryptocurrency crowdfund project. Shortly after the trade began, Lisk became a major player in the cryptocurrency world, trading in volume with Bitcoin.

Lisk recently entered into a partnership with Microsoft to integrate Lisk into their Azure platform. This means that developers can develop, test and implement various Lisk blockchain applications using Microsoft's Azure cloud computing platform and infrastructure. This offers a good vision for Lisk and gives the company a lot of potential to do great things.

Conclusion

Lisk is a development platform that is available to the general public. Developers can create applications on the platform and then launch their own side chains on this. This gives Lisk developers a number of unique opportunities. As far as I am concerned, it is a one of a kind platform and therefore very interesting to invest in (in the coin of course). We are often curious about the future, but I can not wait where this company will be in 12 months!
