The Economist in 1988 stated: "Get ready for a world currency". I think we're almost there...

The Economist in 1988 came out with this cover:

I believe the prediction is about to fulfill.

What do you think? Will crypto be the future currency?

Sort:

Great ready for a major even first before they jam this down our throats. Maybe like a big conflict or bank runs or some other crap then a world currency.

I wonder how banks will behave about cryptocurrencies when they'll become mainstream...

I think they will tell their paid dogs in Parliament to crush them using deception and lies "it's used for terrorism etc.."

Yes! My husband and I have been aware of this prediction, and we too have been watching the currencies to see which will "arise". At first we thought it would be silver or gold, or a currency backed by one or both of these. Now after recent events (Russia, Japan, and Singapore have all started accepting crypto at retail stores and as a regular form of currency) we too believe that crypto currency will be the predicted "Phoenix". Although we think the crypto will have to be backed by some kind of asset, silver or gold.

That's a good point. I actually have never been able to see crypto as a traditional currency, thus backed by assets like silver or gold, because its model is too different.
Actually, what gives value to crypto should be the network itself.

Gold and silver will reign supreme once again

Great article
