I think cryptocurrency controlled by state (or group of states in this case - makes no difference) is an authoritarian dystopic nightmare.

As much as the technology holds the potential to free us it can just as easily be used to control us in very pernicious ways that currency never could before. It would put future trajectory of cryptocurrency to the exact opposite of what they are currently hoped to become.

Lets hope an open truly decentralized and privacy based crypto takes hold and gains widespread adoption before state controlled systems like this take root. Either way it is the future.
