I've noticed a change in direction of the wind, a pickup in the doldrums with steemit.
I run this YouTube site, it's awesome you should subscribe, shameless plug aside, I am a stats guy.
I enjoy looking at my viewing demographic, and now that ive been running for a month with significant growth I've noticed something that concerns me. Female buy I'm, female interaction, female involvement is incredibly low.
When I look at my viewing demographics female viewers are ~6 sub 6 percent at times. Now the key to any successful community is diversity. Diversity in thought, diversity in ideals, diversity in morals, and you get that only when you have people of all genders, backgrounds, cultures contributing.
Now when I scowl the dark depths of Youtube, you see little female participation across the entire field of crypto, crypto economics, bitcoin, blockchain, etc. Now maybe this is a derivative of the greater problem at hand in silicon valley, and the greater programming, software development world, but I digress. Building a great product needs ideas contributed equally by all genders and the groundwork set by Steemit is quite the foundation.
Now let's continue this trend line to the moon, I'm excited for the future, and the end of the Crypto-Patriarch Era.

As a non-tech mother of three I have an interest in crypto currency technology.
Especially Bitcoin and Ethereum.
I feel excited and energised about the positive decentralisation of the financial systems as we know it. At the moment the world is going mad with instability and uncertainties and for me as a mother and human the idea that people can be in control of democracy and freedom away from the governments and financial sector is very exciting.
It is very hard to navigate the tech world to work out who is worth listening to and trusting, especially when it doesn't all make much sense so you have to keep rereading and researching information!.
I don't think its to do with being a women I think in the whole area of cryptocurrencies it is still a very elite group of mainly men and teenage boys (if reddit is anything to go by!) who are involved and have the technical understanding of what its all about. Maybe with the exception of bitcoin because of the amount of media attention that it has received. I feel i'm beginning an exciting journey for my family for our future. There is light at the end of the tunnel.......
