OK, first i will intoduce myself, 63 years old retired IT.
I started when SCO Unix was the thing, Dos was still a dream in Bill head, but i love it, now i was managing software on Unix and working in a Halrey-davidson shop, both where passion.
Later on, i got a computer store, after that a computer company, an IT company, so, to me, process, agile, scrum, kanban crm, boom, erp, etc where my daily bread.
I said i was retired, not by choice, since i was in very extreme sport, you got to pay the price later, so, i had 3 titanium joint , one a year in the last 4 years, last summer was one of my best in ….many years, was able to click around 3000 km on my Road-Glide.
Now, December 2017 , i became aware or how evolve crypto was, curious by nature, i started to put time on learning and started on the 28 december.
And yes, i made mistake, but i also learned from them, so after my first mistake, i check the media to found where the top guys where to leran from them, it wasnt long that i found @Haejin_Crypto and @Philakonecrypto on twitter, having good guides is a must in this immense dream world.
First thing i learned, you need Bitcoin to buy anything, so i bought a few, just 50.00 cnd to start, geee, was i in for a surprise, once transfered to the exchange, had 40% eaten by fees, so i did some checking on coinbase, fess, currencys, etc, notice that if i buy and transfer LTC to my exchange, is was the very low on fees, once on the exchange, you wait for the right price to sell them for Bitcoin. Now, theres a relation betwen both, if your LTC is hi and Bitcoin is low, perfect, you get more, and wait till Bitcoin goes back up.
Oupss, i forgot, dont use margin trading, i got liquidated and lost it all, its very complex and demands a lot of experiance, stick to normal buy and sell.
Ok, so, lot learned, now…what to buy, theres so many, a freind says that is good, its popular, everyone is talking about it, with my background, i knew this was wrong, so i put back some money the rigth way and started to to my own research with my own rules, in my head, it was clear that to be a worthy investement, it needs to be usefull, but usefull or great without a need is a nonsense, no need no sale. So there got to be also a need for it, now, those two alone are very good…..only if your are almost unique, if theres 25 other crypto doing the same thing, only one or 2 will emerge, so its like searching in the dark with no light. My last rules is for me the summon, is it a dream, a project that maybe will come true or are they actually doing it with success, best example are Stellar Lumens and Ripple.
Ok, so now, i know how to buy bitcoins the smart way, how to buy alt currency, good ones, there a couple of other things, a good exchange, if you try a miracle program that optimize your portfolio, try it in a dollars in it, i tried one and it sold everything at loss and bought XRP at market price, wow, i was like, WTF, took half a second, and those where prime alt, XLM, ADA,GTO,ENJ,SIA, bought i so good prices…..One more lesson under the belt, so i waited the right combo BTC AND XRP to sell it and bougth back what i could at a good price.
Now, i was kind of mad against myself, so i decided to daytrade, in the 80, i was member of a group on mirc called daytraders, lessons learned there helped a lot, got into all pump groups, checked where first info goes out on my stocks and follwed influancial people, once done, pick my lowest crypto, ok, got 600, need 1000, so i checked the pattern, learnings from @Philakone helped a lot, when the price was going off suppose trend, need fast info, was it a news, a pump, its so important to know why, cause then you know when to sell and when to re-buy, took me 4 days, by that time i realised that 50 od something that will go up 30 % was nice, but 2000 of something that will go up 25% was so much better, specially to daytrade.
So, we had the correction, with daytrade, i learned that there 2 important prices, well, 3, the price you buy, the price you sell and the price of BTC when you withdraw to fiat, so knowing that and following the top guys to my jusgement, when the 4th wave ended, the prices when up pretty good, i was 95% sure that the last wave would be even harder, so i sold everything, and bough some neo/usdt, less impacted by the BTC drop, then to my pleasure, it happened, so i rebough more BTC and rebought my dream alts at almost bottom price, and yes, never wait for max top or bottom, it goes away so fast, you might loose a lot, i rather play safe and do a bit less. Hold became so smart as a move to me unless you have a crazy strategy that might work and you can afford the loss in case it doesnt work.
So, now, we are the 8 of febuary, i have short, mid and long term alts and i am very happy with them, a percentage of those will always stay in my portfolio, you never know what they will be worth in a few years.
I hope you enjoy my experience and learn from it, also, im sure you know by now english isnt my first language, im french, so excuse me for all the grammar faults.
Now, to me, best echange, specially hard client, Binance, but you also need the other ones, cause they might have that special new alt, Blockfolio on you phone, its free and keeps track of everything, evens has alert, Google authentificator, take pictures of safety code cause there no backup on it, wallet, i have myetherwallet and for the rest i use Jaxx, its free, got lots of currency, be very cautious on your moves, most exchange support is……very very slow.
Have success, never be shy to ask someone, the only stupid people i know are the ones who dont ask questions, take your time, i rather be sorry to miss one occasion compare to being stuck with a loosing one that have so little volume i cant even sell at loss.
Claude
PS, going to the moon and lambo….be careful, there might be a few ones, but that’s its, be realist, the BTC will not go to 100k this year, but if it goes to 50k, i will be very happy, Pump, its like a ponzi, a few make money, the rest pay for it. and also, there a guy, John McAfee, follow him, he promotes cryptos in a pump and dump way, so if you need a pump, your not doing well, just see where he goes, it,s a good indicator of where not to go.
