Crypto and the Media: Classic Fear-mongering. DON'T PANIC or They Win...

in #crypto7 years ago

One simple Google search of "cryptocurrency" is all it takes to open up the floodgates to a whirlwind of articles, all claiming the future of crypto will be disappointing. But will it actually be as bad as the mainstream media is predicting?

Don't buy into the panic!

Anyone who knows a slight bit of crypto history knows that this is not the first time the media has mistakenly predicted the collapse of major crypto such as Bitcoin. There is actually an online forum of Bitcoin obituaries from the countless times Bitcoin was predicted by all to finally "die off". Yet it still hasn't.

Historically speaking, ALL new technologies are predicted to fail, especially those that are disruptive to social norms. Credit cards were once laughed at and thought to be impractical, while today it is actually cash that is rare. Automobiles were thought to never catch on and horseback would likely to continue to be the preferred method of travel. Point being, people tend to fear that which is new to them.

Cryptocurrency is only in its infantile stages and WILL continue to grow.

Don't be fooled into thinking this is a "phase" of some kind. We are living in the future and all of us are a step ahead of society, whether they believe that or not. Though prices may be dropping currently, don't expect that to mean anything for the long term. Things are always rocky in the beginning.

100% agree, try to not let the fear and stress get to you. I heard about the site below last week.
"Bitcoin has died 138 times"

Haha that site is exactly what I was talking about just couldn't find it lol

LOL yea, it's pretty funny to see. I get why the articles get written, but I wonder how many of them have to come out and prove their worth before they are accepted by the larger masses.
