I just received a news alert that Illinois is passing legislation that will "regulate Blockchain Industry."
The problem with all forms of Tyrannical Governments is that they feel entitled to YOUR money. This is ever so true where Governments have bankrupted themselves trying to be everything to everyone; from Father to Mother to Priest to Teacher to Doctor to Protector to Insurer to everyone in between.
The U.S. State of Illinois is a prime example of such a tyrannical government. It is the epitome of an overgrown and bloated government run amuck.
When I think of Illinois, I think of Jabba-the-Hutt.
Instead of "Bring me Solo and the Wookie" it's "Bring me Some Crypto and the Money."
They've done such a bang-up job of running their own economy ( they may be the first State to go bankrupt ) so they thought they could step in and help "run", I mean, regulate Cryptocurrencies.
Man, what arrogance! What Idiocy! What down right thievery!

We just celebrated these States United's Independence day yesterday, yet the words to the Declaration of Independence are just as applicable today as when they were penned:
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.
But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.
Listen Folks, I think Illinois fits the bill (pun intended) for the description of a Government that no longer Guards their citizens future security. Whether we are unfortunate enough to be a citizen of Illinois or not, it is high time we say "NO" to these criminals and lay new foundations that will rightly effect our Safety and Happiness. Because you can be sure of this, the same Banksters and Politicians that have run Illinois into the ground will run your State or country into the ground eventually. They can't help themselves, it's what they do. They're criminals!

Legislators of the state of Illinois, have officially advanced a bill to establish a government task force to regulate the Blockchain industry and sector.
House Resolution 120, which was approved with 98 votes, requests the government to create an inter-governmental Blockchain task force to provide a more efficient and regulatory-friendly ecosystem for Blockchain development firms, research organizations and businesses.
The bill entitled “Blockchain Task Force” read:
“Creates the Illinois Legislative Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Task Force to study how and if the State of Illinois, county governments, and municipal governments can benefit from a transition to a Blockchain-based system for recordkeeping and service delivery.”
Can you believe the gall of these legislators?
They must have some ginormous kahones because in the midst of a complete financial meltdown, the best answer they can come up with is to tax something they haven't taxed already, namely the Blockchain Industry. Of course, they wrap the legislation in vague terminology and try to pass it off as them just innocently poking around the world of Crypto just trying to figure it all out to see if, aw shucks, it will be beneficial to them and their various levels of control.
They know full well what Blockchain technology is and what it can do. Their masters, the Private Central Banks, have been creating money out of thin air and lending it at usury to everyone else for the past 300 years! Thereby enriching themselves and enslaving everyone else to an endless cycle of debt. When the debt can't be paid, then real collateral is taken as payment on the erroneous debt obligation.
Real Land, Real infrastructure, Real lives in exchange for make believe Monopoly Money.
It's the biggest heist in human history!
Cryptocurrencies have the potential to economically emancipate mankind because the secret is out. Money is just a socially accepted medium of exchange. It can be created at ZERO cost and distributed into the economy via mining or blogging. Understanding this a person begins to realize that if money is created out of thin air, why then are we taxed? Why can't governments just create what they need to run their various functions? No need to take it from you or me. With Blockchain technology as the foundation for all money creation there would be no need for taxes! Period.
Well, that won't do for the Banksters and their crony politicians. Why would they willingly cut themselves out of the equation when the current system has been working so well for them. Obviously, not for us, but for them it's been like having their very own money tree growing in their backyards.
It's time we said "NO" to these criminals and take our economies back for ourselves. Steemit is one of the ways that we can do this. They can have "their" money. But they can't have ours!

In your quote from Joseph Young, I don't see any mention of taxes.
How do you infer that they are taxing "something they haven't taxed already"?
I stand corrected. I just read the bill and it clearly states that those in the task force will do it without compensation.
When a government regulates something, they generally don't do it for free. Anytime a new agency or task force is created they usually get their funding from the community they are "helping.". Although Young didn't mention taxes in this article, I extrapolated it from my understanding of how governments operate. Much like police Dept. And highway patrol, a good portion of their budget comes from the fines they levy. I can do more research on this bill in the Illinois legislator and do an update post. Thanks for your questions.
I tend to agree. The big guys at the top want to stay there, and if things go more toward cryptocurrency, then they won't be at the top. So they have a vested interest in the established way of doing things.
As for the state of Illinois, I'm in favor of abolishing it - or at least Chicago.

Mess, hells yes. Fortunately for us, we can make a change. Opting out of their systems is a start.
I believe there is a lot of good in the crypto world.

The blockchain was designed to keep their grubby mitts off. It's up to the exchanges to resist governmental encroachment at their end, and up to us to build an internet economy outside their control on ours.
Call out the quislings who support government control schemes, and resist the busybody control freaks!
I fear that's why "they" haven't squashed Crypto yet. They want to assimilate it into their current system of enslavement. Once governments start making their currencies on the block chain they will then declare all other Crypto to be illegal. The question is, will we nullify them by creating our own economies or will we capitulate and keep doing business as usual.
I've got some friends in Illinois, and they aren't really happy with their state government right now. They are actually looking to move out of state (they are retired). But deciding to tax a cryptocurrency? I wonder if they will try and tax the auction house of Illinois-based World of Warcraft players...

They are liking Texas, and they've been here to the Ozarks, but I don't think it was what they were looking for.
First and foremost, I don't think anyone is surprised that its Illinois that is the first of the 50 that is trying to pull this off. Secondly, I'm not sure there are states that are salvageable. We're relying on the good people of Illinois, who have allowed their government to completely control every facet of their lives, to take the side of liberty, just seems unlikely. Whats the solution? I don't know, figure out a way to hide cryptocurrencies, or move to areas that cultivate liberty and aren't afraid to stand up to an overreaching government. Today its Illinois, tomorrow its Washington DC.
There was a news article a couple weeks ago that the US government is going to make it mandatory for people entering the United States declare their Bitcoin accounts. So Washington DC has already on top of it.
That's mildly amusing that they're just going after Bitcoins, shows how out of touch they still are.
