Sup Hive! I have been doing a lot of lurking but I never went away. I've been mostly MIA for a while but i think that it's time for a fresh start!
If you know me from the steemit days, all I have to say is boy have things changed. Cryptocurrencies have come a long way. So much has changed since the steemit fork between splinterlands moving to hive and new coins and projects emerging. While recent life obstacles have had me MIA and work has had me MIA from Hive even longer I am looking to dive back in! We are all still early and I look forward to sharing what I come across!
Blockchain Gaming
Speaking of splinterlands, what an amazing success this game has been. While many I have talked to about it don't particularly like card games it amazes me that per dappradar, splinterlands is still #1.
So many people would argue this, and even I can too, but I knew Splinterlands had potential from the start and it's far from done growing. This is only the beginning.
I have been chasing blockchain gaming since I found splinterlands, back around alpha and to this day I am still unable to find a better blockchain game with equal or better sustainability. Some not launched with massive potential, the technology of blockchain gaming has come a long way.
Axie is great but I enjoy splinterlands a lot more, but I can agree that Splinterlands and Axie have held the top spots for a very long time, but it seems that other blockchain communities are ignoring dappradar...or is dappradar ignoring other blockchain games? I am not sure...one thing is certain though, Splinterlands is here to stay forever and it will only get better from here!
Blockchain games I am looking forward to include
- Big Time - not released
- Mines of Dalarnia - not released
- Undead Blocks - not released
- Decentraland Gaming - if there is a future for it, needs polishing
- Sandbox - alpha is fun but I don't like the instancing, needs its own post really
- Phantom Galaxies - Need an NFT to play, fun but too busy to really play it
- Hodl Gods - Seems fun but only tried it once. Graphics were actually really good.
These are just a few to name....there is so much in the work and these are truly exciting times for blockchain gaming!
When Splinterlands was in Alpha/Beta I felt that blockchain gaming was very much still in its infancy and some games I saw were at best nintendo to nintendo 64 quality in terms of graphics. With what I've been able to find in the last few months shows a big difference, where I had to upgrade my video card to play some of the newer blockchain games with potential.
Metaverse (To da moon)
Me infront of Miller Lite's Meta Lite Bar, launched on 2/7/22 in Decentraland! I never thought I'd see this day!
Over the last year I saw the metaverse boom coming. The metaverse is not exactly any one game or project, the metaverse is the internet as a whole, but used differently in a way we are not used to. Imagine browsing the internet in a VR setting where you can visit venues and warp to other virtual worlds using different hubs preferred by users. I stockpiled some MANA, but I'm not gonna lie I did not notice The Sandbox until it was a bit late. While I do hold some SAND I definitely have more MANA and actually enjoy Decentraland a lot more. Sandbox has its own unseen potential. After trying Decentraland for a couple of days when it first launched. It was great but it was too laggy for my computer. While empty then it has grown exponentially! Now I have enough power to play it all.
My Metaverse adventures really started in December of 2021 when The Sandbox Alpha was launched.
I designated an old wallet, mostly empty with about $70 worth of Eth and about 5 old NFT's that were now worthless as my metaverse wallet. By the time the alpha was done my metaverse itch continued. Since I did not have an Alpha pass I did not get any NFT's out of the experience but I enjoyed it enough to dive into Decentraland and I don't regret it one bit. I chased any giveaway or free wearable giveaway I could find and it all started with twitch.
There are always twitch streamers that are always giving away free decentraland Wearable NFt's and some even give away art NFT's that you might like! One thing I know for sure is you can't win if you don't participate...assuming they can sell, per market value and how you can't list wearables for less than 1 mana on the decentraland market or less than $2-$5 on opensea, I've acquired hundreds of dollars worth of free NFT's just for being a part of the community. Sometimes there's a free mint in the decentraland marketplace and just as fast as it goes up, the mint gets eaten up! It's like getting free airdrops, giveaways or upvotes on hive. You just have to be there and you can't lose! Check out my favorite streamers that do giveaways all the time! Not even lying about this one...the best giveaways! Exclusive giveaways, these streamers are singlehandedly dripping out all the new people coming in!
There are definitely more, and you can't miss them if you sort your twitch by Decentraland!
For the last 2 months my play time has been very limited over some personal issues in my life but I have been able to collect a bunch of free wearable NFT's and even other Art NFT's from within the community that are fun to hold!
If you were to ask me what it was like to visit and see the inside of the Eth network I would tell you "Easy, just go to play.decentraland.org and log in, walk around. You'll understand!"
@Decentraland is like a central hub to content creators and crypto enthusiasts alike. Very much like Hive, only instead of text beased, it's live and in a virtual world. Having been involved in the metaverse I realized just how big the crypto space is, when I talk to my metaverse friends about hive they are mostly unaware of its existence. Sometimes I find this weird because knowing about hive is normal to me but even then there aren't many hive posts about it and the fact that I have more followers than Decentraland is weird lol.
I think that if you are not in decentraland, I am confused as to why not? I hear some say it sucks, and you might be right that the engine can be terrifying for gaming but I don't go to decentraland for an insane gaming experience but more of a fun social hangout with other crypto enthusiasts/apes/hodlers/degens/diamond handed mfers that share a similar mindset. We have a lot of fun chasing POAPS (Proof of Attendance Protocol), free wearables, free mints whether NFT's or wearables. So basically, opportunities. There are even opportunities on hive, some I've missed, some I haven't.
One thing about opportunities is whenever you find one, there are at least 10 to 100 others happening at the same time that you are missing out on.
If you are on decentraland, let me know what you like or don't like about it!
I would like to do giveaways exclusively on hive so if you think you'd be interested or know anyone in on both platforms please let them know!
If you are someone I sent to check this out from Decentraland and have not yet signed up to Hive, I strongly enourage you to do so! Your voice and thoughts have value! Your content has more value then you would ever imagine since simply TALKING about your content holds value! Come blog about your creations and earn crypto!
