In an interview on UnikrnRadio, the CEO of Bittrex, Bill Shihara, hinted that the exchange will soon accept "fiat deposits" in dollars. With this decision, the cryptocurrency exchange hopes to boost the trading volume and directly enter into the competition with Coinbase and Gemini.
Game-changer
Coinbase and Gemini are currently the largest American exchanges that accept deposits in dollars, but they have a limited supply compared to Bittrex. Coinbase currently offers four cryptocurrencies (Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ether and LiteCoin) and Gemini only two (Bitcoin and Ether). In this area, Bittrex has a head start as it offers more than 190 different cryptos.
The decision will make it easier for American citizens to buy different Altcoins directly. This is another step in further accessibility and adoption. It will ensure that dependence on BTC is becoming less and less.
