Steemit has put crypto in the hands of the common man!
And what a time to be into cryptocurrency. I woke up this morning to the following reality.
STEEM OVER $2 USD
SBD OVER $2 USD
BITCOIN AT ALMOST $3000 USD
Normally, none of this would have mattered for me. I never mined any crypto and I took any of my other money and bought crypto with it. A year ago, I had no clue about any of this.
However, now steemit has made getting your hands on some crypto easy for anyone who can access the internet. Now, we all have the opportunity to gain our own STEEM & SBD, and even turn it into BTC or other coins if we want. THANK YOU SO MUCH STEEMIT!
Does anyone know how happy I am that I continued to blog to earn STEEM when it was worth 10 cents? I earn a good amount of 10 cent STEEM when others gave up hope. Now, each of those coins are worth over $2 USD. Who's going to be happy that they blogged and curated for $2 STEEM when it goes even higher?

I feel the same way that you do.
When it was down at 10 cents I looked at my blog as an investment and quit withdrawing any Steem. I'm happy that I did.
Plus, in the last 6 weeks I started playing around buying other cryptos and am having fun and success doing that.
I heard about Bitcoin years ago, but never dabbled in it. Steemit got me comfortable with the whole thing and motivated me to get started.
I diversified a bit too on the crypto market. Most of them are doing pretty good. I never got into any crypto until steemit, but now it all makes sense!
so steemit is the gataway into cryptocurrency ;)
It's pretty much the same story for me, too. I'd hear about Bitcoin, but didn't really know what it was or what to do with it. I learned about all that after getting on Steemit. Now, I've just made my first Bitcoin purchase, which is supposed to show up in my CoinBase account tomorrow, and I will use that to make my first crypto trades, based on information I got here. It's exciting, and I hope to see good results. Plus, my estimated account worth here is now more than the amount of SteemPower I have, which is cool.

I don't know why but it really felt like this suddenly is reaching all time heights. Can you tell me if there would be a specific reason for this? Do people take cryptocurrencies serious finally now?
I am not completely sure. I thought that BTC was nearing the top already when it broke $2000, but I believe that STEEM has plenty of room for growth. We will see.

STEEMit is the gift that keeps on giving, I've been in on Crypto for about 6 months now and Its been fantastic! That is until earlier today when my Coinbase account was hacked and I lost everything I had saved up and earned with successful trades. If you could, I would really appreciate if you could help me spread the word about some of the dangers associated with Crypto exchanges and coinbase in particular, as its also one of the reasons I am glad the 2% of btc that wasnt stolen was safely here on Steemit. I wasn't here when the STEEM prize was around 10 cents and I truly regret that. But the moment I joined one month ago, I knew that I will never give up posting. STEEM is a great long term investment, I have no doubt about that. And I also have no doubt that one day I will be happy like you are now @papa-pepper :) Cheers!
Yes, there is still a lot of potential room for growth with STEEM, and it is great that so many of us are already earning it!
You hit the nail on this head with this one. I was a Facebook addict before finding this place, and now I'm trading coins AND doing a podcast. I joined 11 months ago. But 12 months ago you wouldn't have been able to convince me that today would be the way it is. I was interested in doing neither of those two things.

I agree, I would have never guessed. A year ago, a computer was pretty much a typewriter with a screen to be and I spent about ZERO time online. I would have never guessed I would be doing what I now am.
Yep, couldn't agree more. Steemit introduced me to crypto too, and what a ride it has been. I'm so glad I powered up a large amount of steem when it was still around 20 cents. I honestly believe Steem could reach above $10 within the next year or two. It's a live changing investment for those who choose to hold on. And just as important is the community here.
The community is incredible, and the potential of our currency is too. I think that STEEM will become HUGE one day, and this whole platform is already revolutionary!
Great sentiment. These kind of shooting gains give us humans major FOMO, that's why we tend to buy in at tops and give up at bottoms. However, compared to rest of the crypto market, Steem's gains seem totally sustainable, at least in the short term. Steem was once third in market cap - as far as usefulness, I think it can get back there again!
I think that there is a lot of potential room for growth for STEEM too. It is highly unlikely that BTC (for instance) will double in value by year end, but it is totally probable with STEEM.
Time will tell, but this is a great sign.
I am with you! So greatful for Steem, Steemit and @chainbb! I wish I would have blogged more when it was down and kept all my steem power! Thankfully I had a little steem left over when things started getting good again! You can bet this time I will do better!

Lucky you, papa-pepper made a fortune out of steemit.After all being loyal and dedicated always pays off. Would been in your position if i wasn't looking for easy ways. Leant my mistake...
I honestly had no idea how I would be able to get the funds to build a house for my family debt free. Out of seemingly nowhere, steemit showed up. It wasn't always easy to stick with it, but I knew that there was such incredible potential that I just couldn't give up. It is nice to see it paying off.

@papa-pepper Simply amazing what a community of spirited individuals can accomplish. I have successfully invested in real estate, metals and stocks have done fairly decent in my life, but this, This is HISTORIC.
There will never be another time like this in my opinion, just like there never truly was a 2nd Gold rush. We, and the rest of the Steemit Community, are living and making History.

Crypto led me to steemit! Or I should say ethereum did. I traded ether on etoro when it was added in February and was so impressed I wanted to actually buy and hold some. And that led me into the world of crypto. From there I found steemit.
I can honestly say crypto has changed my life for the better, no longer do I long for a better job or sick of the crap money I'm making, all I'm interested in now is finding new sources of income via cryptocurrencies. There's so many different routes to go and try. So far I've bought and sold for huge profit, mined with my mind on steemit, harvested with nem, bought into an ICO with VIVA, cloud mined with Genesis and hashflare and just today I got my first coins staking with pinkcoin.
It's an exciting world and I've still so so much to learn!
I still have a lot to learn too, and steemit gave me the incentive too!

Not really, but I've been getting a little advice... First, I have to transfer SBD to Bittrex- then Bitcoin to Coinbase. If by some miracle I'm able to do that (and don't die of starvation in the interim) then into a bank account!

I've already opened a Bittrex account and a Coinbase account... I wonder if I could transfer the USD onto a prepaid credit card account?
I transfer straight from Coinbase to my bank account too. It can take up to 3 days, but I can withdraw however much I need. The ShiftCard works great too. My wife is buying groceries with it right now.
I don't have a bank account or a shift card. My problem is I'm down to 5 packs of Ramen noodles and a few bananas. The guy I take care of had his identity stolen and the Bank froze his accounts until it gets straightened out... otherwise we'd have money. I thought about trying to sell SBD outright to somebody for cash money...
Steemit is a blessing to me and I have just begun to realize the blessings that havent't' been touched upon yet. Exciting times!
There is a lot more room for the blessings to flow out because of this community.
