As written in a previous article about Alphabay disappearing, more details have come out about the site is shocking.

Another Silk Road

Alphabay rose thru the ranks as the protégé to Silk Road, after Silk Road's operations were final shutdown when the FBI captured it's owner Ross William Ulbricht back in 2013. However a similar fate has been reached with Alphabay it seems as well.

Earlier this month many of Alphabay's users started to get worried about operations of the site when they began to not be able to access the dark web's site. Moderators of the site's Reddit account tried hard to tame their concerns.

However now we know the worst fears are all true.

Jammed Up

It is now being reported by Bangkok Post that one of the main site admins, Alexandre Cazes, was found hanged - allegedly self-inflicted. Cazes was a known Canadian drug lord, and that they had recently impounded four Lamborghinis and three homes belonging to the suspect.

Cazes was wanted by authorities and was arrested in Bangkok on July 5. There were arrangements being planned for his return to the United States to face charges there. US Court issued a warrant for his arrest back on June 30 and Cazes was arrested at the Private House in Thawi Watthana district.

Questions/Feedback

  • Do you think Cazes killed himself or was murdered?
  • What about the other operators of the site? Couldn't they keep the site going?
  • Is this another black eye for cryptocurrencies' image?

"allegedly self-inflicted" gives me a suspicion that he was murdered by one of the operators of the site. The fact that Cazes was wanted by authorities for months, leads to the conclusion that this is an FBI cover-up.

Well all the business has to go somewhere. So the daily 600k-800k that AlphaBay generated is going to go to another site. The feds are playing wack a mole and they can not win. But I guess they have some really good job security.

Hmmmm sounds sorta like the "War on Drugs" to aye? Lol

Couldnt agree with you any more.
