Yours - Steemit's first competitor ?

While googling news on Steemit today I found this article on a website called themerkle.com , it talks about a similar platform to Steemit I had no idea it existed.  The platform is called Yours #yours

The Yours platform is getting a lot of attention as of late, even though the project is still under development as we speak. The primary objective of this platform is to create a social platform where content creators can get paid to share their creations. Moreover, users who discover good content can earn money as well.

Here is what #yours says about Steem: https://engineering.yours.network/

A new project, Steem, has taken the very approach we determined wouldn’t work. They have built their own blockchain and customized it to suit the needs of their community. They’ve grown significantly and now have one of the most valued cryptocurrencies measured by market capitalization. And as best we can tell, it’s actually working — content creators are being paid.

Although we are delighted to see blockchain social media a reality, we worry that Steem can’t last. The burden of building not just a community and a technical platform, but also a novel cryptosystem and supporting economy, is extremely high. Security and scaling problems with their blockchain have a smaller team of experts incentivized to solve them, so solutions will come slower. Companies and services such as wallets and exchanges will be fewer in number and less featureful. When they encounter regulatory issues, they will have fewer allies.

― Sun Tzu, The Art of War

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Steemit will continue to be a pioneer and a market leader but its important to know what other developments come in the near future.

Yours could gain traction in the Bitcoin community faster than Steemit but there are some big differences between these platforms. Any ideas who is backing Yours?

1). Users must self-fund with Bitcoin to get started and participate in tips
2). Early curators get paid by later curators, so how do you keep a bot from ruling this platform?
3). Can the Bitcoin blockchain scale to support the volume generated by a large social media user community?

all your questions apply here too... so, same platform, same problems.

1). Users must self-fund with Bitcoin to get started and participate in tips
yeah, same as here... but here they give you 10$ worth of steem to start.
2). Early curators get paid by later curators, so how do you keep a bot from ruling this platform?
err... same as here too..
3). Can the Bitcoin blockchain scale to support the volume generated by a large social media user community?
again.. same as here.

I didn't see the concept of STEEM Power on Yours. I believe that makes Steemit unique.

How about these differences...

  1. The up voting algorithm on Steemit also encourages human evaluation of good content versus just tipping out to bloggers ahead of whales.
  2. I didn't see the concept of weighted voting by those most invested in the platform.

Granted, the Yours platform is still early beta and maybe these features are in their pipeline. That brings up a very Intersting question to THIS community and the Whales. What is anything in the Steemit platform is proprietary??? Can another bigger, more funded crypto-Titan just rip off the best features? I hope not, but would love to learn more.

I have no idea sorry!

This is 100% new to me as of less than 40 minutes ago.

Yours and Seemit are not enemies.

The whole crypto-community profits from the experience we gain from all of these projects.

Understand that the different types of blockchains have different sets of properties, different advantages and disadvantages.

As all blockchain projects are (and have to be) quite open and transparent, we can learn quickly from success and failure.

This all will benefit and drive forward the whole eco-system.

I couldn't agree more, they are fundamentally different projects and I hope they both can see their own success.
