What is Crowdini?

Crowdini is a question and answer game. We ask you to answer one question a day and give you points based on how your answer compares to the majority answer.

We have incorporated Steemit in a new innovative way. Read more about Crowdini and how we have incorporated Steemit in our intro post here.

At the end of the game the top 3 in points split 90% of the prize pool and all other players who voted on every question for that game will split 10% of the prize pool.

It is designed to be something you can do in a few seconds a day but hopefully sparks conversation and thought.

Buckle up. I am a teacher in a high school 20 minutes from Columbine. Although I have never experienced an active shooter situation, I have experienced dozens of lockdown drills and real lockdowns in my 5 years of teaching. During a lockdown you sit with your kids in a corner of your classroom with the lights off and wait for an announcement that the lockdown is over. You don't know if it is a drill, a response to a vague threat or neighborhood activity until it is over. One time I sat in a copy room with a handful of kids on student council until 7 pm because, we later learned, a man had gotten into a shootout with the police across the street after a bank robbery. But you never know what is causing it in the moment. You just sit there in the dark with a bunch of teenagers who are looking to you to tell them they're safe and ultimately keep them that way.

Suffice this to say that I know what is at stake, and an active shooter in a school is something that is on your mind regularly as a teacher. And every time you sit with 30 teenagers who are giggling to hide fear, or asking you to please just tell them its a drill, in the corner of your dark room you can't help but picture someone with a gun busting through the door and mowing you down where you sit. You can't help but wonder if you would have the presence of mind to get in front of your kids, or throw a chair at the attacker, or even stand up before you were killed.

Thanks for sharing this with us. It's hard for me to imagine what that fear must be like. Kids should not live in fear.

Thank you for expressing this. So appreciative!

More guns are not the answer. Fix the culture that glorifies guns and those who use them. Happily it's not even a question in the UK

I answered
No

They are stressed enough as is, they don't need the extra stress of needing to shoot down a psychotic gun wielding intruder/fellow student. They aren't paid enough for their own work as a teacher, let alone now security guards.

I answered
Yes

We protect our valuables with armed guards, why not our kids? We can't pretend that evil doesn't exist in this world. The best way to fight evil is to prepare yourself.

I answered
No

Insanely terrible idea for a nearly infinite amount of reasons. Let's stop discussing the implementation of half-measures that will in the long run only serve to increase violence and gun manufacturer profits and solidify the school to prison pipeline. Instead, why don't we actually work to reduce the risk of mass shootings occurring in the first place.

I answered
No

I think it’s asking a bit much of our teachers to care for and nurture the learning abilities of our children, but also be prepared to kill them if they become a threat.

I answered
No

1. I don't understand how adding MORE guns to the equation will help. 2. With most mass shootings happening with an AR-15 what the hell is a teacher with a hand gun really going to be able to do? 3. This argument makes me irate.

I answered
No

Study after study has shown simply put that more guns does not equal less crime/violence and in fact leads to an increase in crime and violence. This will simply exacerbate the problem by adding more opportunity for mistakes. There were armed security at Columbine, at Parkland, Vegas, and Ft Hood is a God damn military base. It did not prevent anything

I answered
No

I can just see it leading to a rise in accidental shooting in panicky teachers who have guns and shouldn't, or teachers that end up leaving them where younger kids can get to them. Then I can also see older students fighting and trying to take them from the teacher.

Allowed. Not required.

I answered

There are so many things that could go wrong.

I answered
No

Very curious to see the answer to this one.

I answered
No

why do they need weapons? they need books :)

I answered
No

No.

I answered
No

The fact that people are even considering this is absolutely ridiculous.

I answered
No

Surprised you asked something so controversial. I would not want to see some of the comments you are going to inevitably get.

I answered
No

They shouldn’t.

I answered
No

I think it's going to come down to what they do in the beginning of fast and furious Tokyo drift where when you enter the school you have to go through metal detectors.

I answered
No

Answering gun violence with more guns is not really a good idea.

I answered
Yes

yes we have to protect our kids

I answered
Yes

Yes, but there has to be some sort of intense training to keep weapons out of the hands of the trigger happy type.

I answered
Yes

That's a loaded question. I say yes, or bring back corporal punishment and start teaching the kids how to respect their elders and people of authority. When was the last time you heard a "yes sir" or "no sir". What was the question??? 🤔

I answered
Yes

Yes, absolutely, as long as they are well trained!! Sadly, it has come to this.

I answered
Yes

I had a hard time with this one. I don't think they should have to carry one at all.

As of 1:15 pm eastern on February 19, 2018 the Steemconnect issue was fixed.

You will need to relink your Steem accounts at https://crowdini.com/users/edit if you haven't after 1:15pm eastern on Feb 19, 2018.

Below are the users who didn't autovote because their tokens were expired. You will want to manually upvote if you are going for the 100% Prize.

@ailenepm, @airjmo23, @mkrvx0, @oj93, @ratticus

If you relink your account please reply to this comment and let me know so I can track again just to be sure.

I really don't know what's going on with the expired tokens. I've reset mine multiple times since the start of this issue, and have just added crowdini to my auto voting thing so it's done regardless of if the authorisation thing works or not

I've been using the daily email to update what is happening with the tokens.

We fixed the issue last Monday (2/19). I just use this list daily to let the people know who haven't relinked since 2/19, that their vote did not publish automatically.

It sounds like you don't need me to list your name anymore. Is that correct?

That's correct. I'm pretty certain that I'll appear in the 100% winners again this month. If I don't, then there's an issue that I have to sort out somewhere, and will do the relink again

I do not think so, because the teacher is a role model for many people so if we bring weapons the view of the people to us will look like bandits

Thanks for sharing.

I answered no because the teacher is the guidance of the world of education who must be noble personality and educate the nation's children, and if there are teachers who bring weapons, then the students will run away fear.

I said no
because the teacher is the one who teaches the goodness of science so it is not good to carry weapons

I said no
because the teacher is the benefactor of good deeds of science, I am reminded of the history of Hiroshima and Nagasaki being hit by bombs. this nation first asked the people when the country was ravaged is "how many teachers are still alive" means this nation is very uphold the dignity and dignity of a teacher.

I said no
because the habits brought by the teacher is a book and polpen so if a weapon means the teacher is willing to fight
