RE: De onde venho [30 Day Creative Post Challenge / Portuguese]

The 3 things about my hometown...

The town I was born in was called Rockwood. When they were trying to name it, they looked around and all they could see was Rock and Wood. I've always liked that level of logic. Growing up, the population was under 1000.

I lived next to the Rockwood academy. When I was really young, Yosef(Joe) Drenters lived there. After he passed in 1983, his brother Andreas moved in. As a child, I used to go and play at the Academy, as a teenager, I helped Andy in his shop and anytime anyone in the town found old steel objects, we'd take them over and hope that they would become art.

I also lived next to the Rockwood Conservation Area . I spent most of my early years playing in the forest, swimming in the potholes and exploring the caves. I'd often leave in the morning, pack a lunch, and be home before the streetlights came on.

How cool is this story with Andreas Drenters (who I didn't know, but glad to know now). What a nice place to grow up! I bet you have many other great memories, why don't post about it? Thanks!
