The preparation
Good wallpapering starts with the surface
Only on a smooth and clean surface, where the glue adheres well, you can decorate smooth and tight.
Cover the floor
Water always comes into the preparation. Make sure you cover the floor with foil and fix it on the skirting with tape. Turn off the power, and then remove the sockets and switches.
Does old wallpaper have to be removed?
wallpaper-removalAbout 2-layer old wallpaper that is well secured (especially check edges and corners), you can paste new wallpaper, but the best result is only when you put new wallpaper on a bare wall.
When you hang wallpaper over old wallpaper, make sure that the thick seams are smoothly sanded and the loose pieces are stuck. This is often more work than removing old wallpaper.
Wallpaper that has smudges or stains on it must be removed. This also applies to vinyl wallpaper, metal foil wallpaper, embossed wallpaper, textile and fiberglass wallpaper.
Remove old wallpaper dry
Toddler an upper corner of a job and try to get rid of the wallpaper. Pull downwards, hands close to the wall. If there remains a fluffy paper layer (strippable wallpaper), let it sit quietly. If you still want the best result, remove that layer, that layer of paper ensures that the wall is not smooth and dust-free.
Remove old wallpaper wet
To remove old wallpaper wet you need at least hot water. You can then put in an emptying agent or you can use a washing-up liquid. You can spray it with a plant spray on it or with a sponge. Pull this well and stick the wallpaper with a putty knife.
Vinyl wallpaper or painted wallpaper first crisscross with the putty knife.
It also goes well. You can rent a professional device or purchase a smaller device.
Other surfaces
Do the wettinger test. If the wall is white, polish the wall thoroughly with water and give a post-treatment with a primer (eg primer standard, this is for a absorbent substrate). Latex (wall paint) dissolves in spirit. Take off well with ammonia water (1 in 2). Oil paint does not dissolve anywhere. Thoroughly sand with grit 120 (this is a fine grit), use a sander and wipe with ammonia water.
Tip: the dust that is released with sanding is bad for your lungs. Always wear a dust mask with this work.
Smooth the walls
Cut cracks and holes with filler. Sand the areas with fine sandpaper. Use a sanding cork for this. In the event of deep cracks, press the glass fleece into the wet filler. Rub bulding away. Check your work by shining a lamp along the wall, where there is shade, re-sanding and checking again.
Pre-treat highly absorbent substrates with a primer.
Tip: always treat a wall with a wallpaper - substrate. If you start wallpapering again, you can get the old one out of it. You need to apply wallpaper - substrate to a wall of plasterboard; the old wallpaper can not be removed otherwise.
On a roll is 10 meters. Measure the wall height from ceiling to plinth, + 10 cm. You now know how many jobs come from one role. Measure the total length of the walls and divide by the roll width, 0.53 meters. You now know how many jobs you need. Divide the outcome by the number of jobs per roll, up and down on a whole roll.
ATTENTION: wallpaper with a pattern often has to be staggered so that the pattern fits. The number of centimeters that you need to count extra for each job is behind on the roll.
Which glue?
There is adhesive for heavy and light wallpaper. With the latter we mean light paper wallpaper. Choose stronger adhesive for all other types of wallpaper. Follow the instructions for use carefully.
Tips: before you hang up, your plaster will always be battered first. Where you hear a dull sound, the plaster is locally loose. Tighten and repair bad spots with filler and masonry sand (1 in 1.5).
On the walls of new houses is usually 'construction wallpaper'. Let this sit for at least six months until the plaster layer has been worked out properly. Before you apply new wallpaper, always remove the wallpaper and clean the walls thoroughly.
Check the color of the wallpaper.
Wrap ± 1.5 meters of wallpaper from each roll and lay the strips half over each other. Color differences become visible. If a role falls too far, you can usually exchange it.
What does the label tell you?
wallpaper symbolsTo preclude failures, important information is displayed on the label of each roll of wallpaper. Below you can see the explanation of the most important symbols. Always pay attention to the batch and color number. If these are the same you will see little or no difference between the reels.
I have search information on youtube. Hier you can watch its!
Succes with it!
