I have heard this phrase "drink 8 glasses of water a day" one too many times. And i have always wondered if it includes the water in our food and drinks. This curiosity led me to ask a friend of mine who told that it meant literally drinking 8 glasses of water a day. Well, that answer didn't go down well with me. I need to find out if he was right about it and the science behind it. Some people even term it the 8×8 rule.
So, my curiousity led me to various articles and I didn't find any source except a certain theory said to have originated in 1945, when a research organisation released a report starting each person ought to drink one ml of water for calorie of food they consume. Can you imagine that? But the report also stated that much of the water can be gotten from the foods we consume.
Well, this is how half true information breeds new concepts that may be detrimental to one's health
