I am a big horror movie fanatic. And two years ago, I vowed to be an inconic horror movie character every Halloween. Two years ago- I was this:
I was Carrie White. And though the concept was simple, I still firmly believe this was the best costume I've ever worn. And it's simply mind-blowing to see Carrie White costumes online too (and they look terrible). All you gotta do is buy a cheap dress at a thrift store (mine was around $7), buy a cheap plastic crown, and a jug of fake blood and you are good to go!
Last year, I was working in a Halloween store ON Halloween. So there was some restrictions on my costume as far as not making a mess (no gallon of fake blood) and not being overly horrifying, because we had many child shoppers who were already terrified of our store enough as it was. So last year, I was a female jigsaw.
Easy looking, right? A black dress (also from a resell store, also less than $10), some face paint from my job, and a little red bow-tie. A little money can go a long way for a costume if you know how to do it.
And as for this year, well... it will be my best yet. I plan on being Regan from the Exorcist. And yes, I got my nightgown from the same thrift store. Only this time I also have not only face paint, but green slime and green contacts as well. All together still less than $20. Just gotta know where to look.
I realize these example costumes are not overly impressive, but maybe it can bring a little inspiration to those costume shoppers on a budget! Any other horror fans who like to dress up at Halloween? Need any ideas? This holiday is kind of what I live for after all!
