Pura Vida in Costa Rica!

Here's some shots from my recent trip to Costa Rica!

I can't recommend a stay in the La Fortuna area enough. We arrived there after a few days by the beach on the southern Pacific coast. The beach and surrounding jungle were beautiful but it was very hot and muggy and a few days were plenty. When we arrived in La Fortuna, the air had changed entirely. The temperature was much more mild, the air was breezy, and the sun shined most of the time. The beautiful Arenal Volcano looms over the whole town. Most of the time, it wears a hat of clouds and the top isn't visible. On our last day, we got lucky.

Another highlight was hiking along Rio Celeste. About an hour and a half drive from La Fortuna is a section of the Tenorio Volcano National Park where you can hike along a brilliantly blue river to an incredible waterfall. The jungle is some of the oldest and most untouched jungle in Costa Rica, where in just a 1.5 acre plot, you can find 400 species of trees. Each tree has at least 40 different plants growing on it. "Life on life on life" chorused throughout my head during the entire 5 mile hike. The water appears blue because of a chemical reaction when two rivers converge. You can see that happening in this first picture:
