Coronavirus cases across the globe are over millions now. Since there's no direct cure for it yet, there's no way we can deal with it apart from maintaining certain precautions at an individual level.

Basics of COVID-19: What You Should Know

Coronavirus is a disease spread by a virus which can spread from one person to another. The symptoms can range from mild
(or no symptoms) to severe illness. It was started in Wuhan in China, with the first case officially reported in January. Since then, in the past 4 months, it has spread to almost every country of the Globe with the USA leading in numbers.

How Coronavirus is Spread?

Virus can spread from one person to another, if they come into close contact to each other. Usually, a minimum of 6 feet distance is required to avoid close contact. Infection can occur due to respiratory droplets, which may spread if one person coughs, sneezes or talks.

In case you touch an object or a surface, which has the virus on it and then you touch your mouth, nose or eyes, chances that you'll be infected are very high.

How to Protect yourself and others from COVID-19?

There is currently no vaccine to protect against COVID-19. So, the best way to protect yourself is to avoid being exposed to the
virus that causes COVID-19.

Stay home as much as possible and avoid close contact with others. Wear a cloth face or a mask, covering that covers your nose and mouth in public settings. Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces.

Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, or use an alcoholbased hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

Doing these will ensure that at least you keep yourself safe to avoid any risk from nearby surrounding.

Practice Social Distancing

Buy groceries and medicine, go to the doctor, and complete banking activities online when possible. In some rural areas, this is not possible so, if you go out, stay at least 6 feet away from others and disinfect items you must touch.

Get deliveries and takeout, and limit in-person contact as much as possible

At home, do not sit altogether in a single room with the family. Maintain distance and try to avoid any close contact.

How to Prevent the spread of COVID-19 If You are Sick

If you are sick, stay home and isolate yourself. Get in medical touch as early as possible and do not panic.

Most of the countries and states are practicing lockdown, however, if you are still working, then avoid public transportation,
ride-sharing, or taxis.

Do not play with your pets, when you are sick and separate yourself from the family by isolating into a room. There is no specific treatment for COVID-19, but you can seek medical care to help relieve your symptoms.

Older adults and people of any age who have serious underlying medical conditions may be at higher risk for more severe illness.

Now that you are aware of the Covid-19 spread, make sure you practice social distancing and not break the lockdown to stay safe at your home. If you have any queries, you can contact the local helpline numbers provided by the government and stay away from fake news.
