INTRODUCING a Compilation of STACH's Short Story Contest Entries to reward Authors.

in #contest7 years ago (edited)

Hello Everyone, @Ejemai here with the introduction of a weekly author reward system designed to reward contributors of the STACH Short Story contest.

The STACH Short Story Contest started on the 3rd of September 2017 and we have gone on to have a successful 23rd editions and counting.
With the numerous entries we get weekly, and the number of winners which originally were 3 before it was increased to 5, we feel it will be a good thing to keep encouraging contributions by featuring select articles from these entries, and rewarding the authors.

How will it work?

  • We will feature between 5 to 10 articles from the weekly entries of our short story contests. We are starting from the very first episode.
  • 40% of the SBD reward from the post will be shared between the featured authors.
  • Featured authors are encouraged to "Comment and Resteem" this post to give a wider visibility and higher payout.
  • Rewards will be sent to author's account on the day the post pays out.

Keeping in line with fostering creative thinking and collaboration, we will be doing weekly and hope to improve as this picks up momentum.

Find Below the Select entries for our first edition.

  • Hello friends.

The little girl and Goliat
I am Pipo, a short man who lives near the beach. I was walking along the beach when a strong wind took my favorite hat. I ran behind it all the way to the shore until he stopped on the belly of a giant and muscular man who slept on the sand. I tried to take the hat off without awakening him, but he woke up annoyed and without waiting for my explanation, he wanted to hit me. I ran, running away from that man. I pushed people who came walking, I threw the giant a ball and its owner, a 6 year old girl shouted "bring me my ball". The giant came with the ball ready to hit me when the girl is in front of him and says "that's my ball, give it back". And she hit him hard the little toe of his foot with her little foot. The giant screamed in pain and left.
And so ends the story of how a girl saved me from a giant.

  • I have to say, it was a real challenge to use only 199 words!

The wind is howling like a wolf in the night while I run into the darkness of the woods. My heart racing in my chest and my long black hair dances on my bare shoulders. The night is cold but I only feel the heat burning on my cheeks.
"Here I come!" The voice echoes through the trees when I kneel down behind the biggest tree I could find. I close my eyes and inhale deeply trying not to make any sounds. I can hear his heavy foot steps coming closer. I know he spotted me when I passed him on my way here. I wait, I count in my head. 1, 2, 3... I jump up and wrap my fingers around the red cloth hanging from his jeans. Before he can say a word or even blink his eyes I speed off into the darkness again.
Just a few more steps and I am back on base! I open my mouth to scream that we have the flag when I get tackled from my left side and end up on the wet grass with empty hands. I see her speed off into woods while the rain starts to kiss my skin.

My crush asked me to go with him for a night party; I had never been to a night party in my life but I have also never been asked by my crush.
I looked into his light brown eyes and at his spotless fair skin and I found myself nodding ever so coyly.
He picked me in his white 2016 Toyota Camry in front of my hostel and sped to the night party like someone who was high and would never come down.
Anyways, we got down and I was feeling like a slay queen with my hot shorts.
Then it all ended; my crush offered me alcohol, I knew I had never tasted it before or anything but you needed to see me nodding vigorously like I had been expecting it all night.
One gulp, two, three and I kept going until I felt like I needed the mercy of the toilet but I was hardly coherent and could not communicate my needs at all. Suddenly my bladder was tired of my stupidity and down the yellow liquid came pouring on my sweet crush, that just wasn't enough, I had to decorate his fair skin with some watery plus food filled goo from my gullet.
You needn't ask how my first party adventure ended, it was over faster than it started.

The thought of not moving forward never crossed his mind. This was no race. This was an opportunity to prove to himself that nothing will stand in his way.
Jason was a strong but once fragile man. One that would never take chances or even show any drive to become someone. He now was in the crossroads of life's choices. Standing in the middle of nowhere, with no one to help him.
He knew the outcomes of taking the journey ahead of him. Aware that to become that better person he had to move on.
Without a second thought, Jason stood up tall, took a deep breath and pushed on. Taking one step forward at a time, he slowly but confidently began to climb.
He fought his inner demons to hold back. Thoughts of the old him started talking to him, but Jason knew not to listen and keep on moving.
Struggling in his last few strides, he looked up and saw the top of the climb. As he searched for last rock to grip, a hand came into his sight. Wanting to take it, Jason found his grip.
Pulling himself up, an indescribable feeling came over him.

  • RECKLESS

Suzette died 3 times already from heroin overdoses. This was her fourth overdose. She was attended to when her heart stopped and her cohorts always went into a panic. Getting out the Narcan rescue drug for treatment of her overdosing. They drew straws to see whom out of the three Justin, Ashley, and Ryan. Would start the cpr on the lifeless body of Suzette. It was Ryan and he jumped pressing his face to Suzettes gray lips. Giving her his breath once again. Then pushing her breast to massage her quiet heart. Cough cough Suzette's body quaking reaching for life giving breath. "Shoot the Narcan up her nose", Ryan ordered to Ashley. Squeezing the Narcan tube up her nose caused an instant awakening of Suzettes sleeping consciousness. She smiled and exclaimed."Lets get this party started."

The above were selected from the entries and we want you to have fun reading and lending your support which will help the authors get some additional rewards for their creative writing contribution.
