in #contestyesterday

Hi Everyone,

EQ_8_2025_THUMB_Results.jpg

It is time to announce the winner of the eighth Sapien Loop Quiz for this year. It is great to see a good turnout of eight participants. I am a little disappointed with the quality of the answers, but one participant did well and answered eight of nine questions correctly. The quiz was a little difficult, as it focused purely on the short stories book, which has only been recently published.

How to Play!

EQ_8_2025_Play_Recap.jpg

For those who did not enter, here is a quick recap of how to play. The quiz contains nine multiple-choice questions. Each question has five possible answers. The participant is required to select the correct answer from the five options. The participant who answers the most questions correctly wins the contest. If there is a tie, the participant who entered first wins. There is also a requirement for the winner to answer at least five questions correctly. This is my way of ensuring that the participants have read the books.

The prize for this contest is 30 Hive Power. The entries of the first twelve participants are upvoted.

Explanations

Question 1: This question is from the short story ‘RJ's First Pie and Ice Cream Blog’. According to RJ, the ultimate ice cream pairings for a pineapple meringue pie are the coconut-flavoured ice creams. These include simple coconut, toasted coconut, and piña colada ice creams.

Question 2: This question is from the short story ‘Hamlet to the Rescue’. Denise, Scott, Hamlet, and fluffy Lily were on a mission to rescue the Sapes trapped in the slaughterhouses. On the way, they encountered giant grain silos. They found out the grain silos were almost completely full and could feed the Downs Region for years.

Question 3: This question is from the short story ‘Down But Not Out’. The story begins by introducing newly elected Governor Cromley and journalist Charlene. Charlene is not what she seems. She is in fact Maskameera Wolf, a Linap-Sentray hybrid who has lived for hundreds of years. She strongly desires power, but the only way she can do this is by taking the identity of successful and powerful Linap or Sapiens. She kills Cromley for her close friend August Rezif, who is also a Linap-Sentray hybrid, for him to take Cromley's place. The two of them have done this for centuries.

Question 4: This question is from the short story ‘Life Underground’. Miro was the most powerful leader of the underground world. He had a younger brother, Flint. He wanted Flint to become powerful in the west tribes where he had less influence. He wanted Flint to be deputy leader to Shamia and eventually replace her as leader. Miro also expected Flint to remain loyal to him, thus making him the ultimate leader.

Question 5: This question is from the short story ‘The G.O.A.T.’. Lily’s parents (adopted) were relocated because Governor John claimed they were in danger from the Business Sector because of Lily’s devotion to the House of Divine Knowledge.

Question 6: This question is from the short story ‘Polly’. Polly obtains energy from eating food (organic nourishment), preferably calorie-dense. In the story, she requested this from Octavius Spiro. However, she can be kept alive with a battery for several months if she is shut down.

Question 7: This question is from ‘Character’s Journeys: Part One’. Atlas’ job was to stock the refrigerator. The Hat Lady needed a new head for the Economic Institute. Atlas was clearly not qualified for the job and therefore could be easily manipulated by her.

Question 8: This question is from ‘Character’s Journeys: Part Three’. Jackson was the youngest son of Phallia Alset. He plays a very small but significant role in Sapien Loop, as he was the only grandchild of Locum Alset to have children to carry on the Alset family line.

Question 9: This question is from ‘Character’s Journeys: Part Six’. Kelly, who was actually the Hat Lady, tricked Sally and Julia into running in the election. She claimed it would increase the Democracy Chasers' chances of winning by having more candidates. Instead, it split the vote between them and reduced their campaign budget. This was a key reason Joan did not win.

The Winner

Overall, this contest had eight participants. Only three of these participants managed to answer more than half the questions. The winner of this contest is @longganisan. @longganisan managed to answer eight out of the nine questions correctly. Congratulations, you have won 30 Hive Power.

This is the final Sapien Loop Quiz for this year. Later this month, I will be running the Christmas Contest. I might throw in a Sapien Loop surprise.

The Sapien Loop Series

Loop_Series.gif

I am writing a trilogy of books titled Sapien Loop. The first in the series is Sapien Loop: End of an Era and the second is Sapien Loop: Frozen in Time. I published both of these books as ebooks on Amazon, and I have posted completed chapters to my @captainhive account. I anticipate publishing the third book in early 2027. I expect to title this book Sapien Loop: Worlds Collide. In 2025, I plan to write short stories about some of the characters and their adventures. I will post these to my @captainhive over the course of the year.

Brief Summary of Sapien Loop: End of an Era

Sapien_Loop_Full_Hive.gif

This story is based on the fictional planet Sapia and its sole country, Sapey. Sapey is portrayed as a form of utopia for all its citizens. No poverty. No war. Almost no crime. Opportunities for all.

This was enough for most citizens, but not all. In one of the small regions, some of the citizens had become discontent. They felt something important was missing in their lives. Their discontent did not go unnoticed. Some of the Sapey elite wanted to weaponise this discontent to gain more power. This created more chaos than they anticipated. This led to further widespread social unrest.

On top of the chaos, ambition and greed provoked another enemy. This enemy was on a mission to settle both new and old scores.

Brief Summary of Sapien Loop: Frozen in Time

Sapien_Loop_2.gif

This story is based six years after the original story. The Downs Region is still suffering from a serious health crisis caused by the contaminated water. The main characters are desperately trying to find a cure for the illness that has been caused by the water.

One of the main characters has discovered frozen humanoids in hidden chambers. It appears they have been frozen for a long time. These chambers connect to a vast network of tunnels. While exploring the tunnels, one of the frozen humanoids disappears. It appears he has been stolen.

The story takes a step back in time to tell the story of the frozen humanoids. How and why were they frozen? This part of the story also explains the fall of ancient Sapey and the birth of the Sapiens. Can those from the past be able to coexist with those from the present?
