As children we have often heard the common saying "God can't reach everywhere so he sends his angels as our parents". While talking about the above quote, have you ever thought of the children who never had the luxury of these angels? Yes, I am talking about the orphans. They don't have the angels we call parents and they crave for love more than anything else. You might feel bad about them; but my dear friends, God has created angels for them too.
The team members of @girlsfoundation were no less than Angels for children of Lemu Orphanage Home. The team visited the orphanage in Port Harcourt, Nigeria on July 2, 2018 and received a warm welcome by the children who sang a welcome song and a prayer for their angels. Before discussing the event any further let us first know about Girls Foundation. Well @girlsfoundation is a steemit community as well as a non-government organization founded by a group of selfless ladies who are devoted towards the cause of #WomenEmpowerment.
They have a firm belief that girl-child can bring about a change in society and that is why they enlighten, encourage and support young ladies today so that they can become a reformer in future. They are breaking the stereotypes and revealing the need for girl education in a country where mostly the male kids are sent to school. Girls Foundation is working hard to create a Rape-free society and they are also fighting against the evil called Domestic violence for the women who often justify this heinous crime. Apart from all these things they are also spreading awareness about the steem blockchain and steemit to make them self dependent.
The team of Girls Foundation usually work for young girls but that day they decided to fulfill their intentions to visit an orphanage. They interacted with kids, told them stories and had a fun photo session. A team member named @faetee told stories of The Honest Wood-cutter and The Man & The Little Cat; after which the kids boldly shared what they learnt from the stories. The team even presented a few items to the orphanage including noodles, tomatoes, groundnut oil, beverages, juices, etc. The photo session and the smiling faces were a proof of the success of this outreach.
I personally loved their initiative because this was something different from their basic agenda. Their work for the young ladies is highly commendable, no doubt but this specific act touched my heart. I do wanna work with them but geographical and economical boundaries tie me but this post is my small contribution for their great initiative. I'll request you all to support these angels who are actually making a difference in real life.
