Art elicits emotions. They can be joyful, serene or even upsetting. I sometimes come across sculptures that leave me feeling disturbed.
Let me show you one that I saw last week in Cernobbio Italy and then we'll turn it into another interesting contest!
My Example of a Disturbing Sculpture!
How would you like to run into this guy in a dark alley? This bronze sculpture was placed here in memory of an artist that had passed away in 1989. She was the president of the association of Art, Love and Friendship. A wonderful gesture to be sure but I find it disturbing none the less!
Now It's Your Turn. Contest Rules
- Show me a photo of a disturbing sculpture that you have seen
- Post your photos in the comment section below
- Feel free to make a post promoting the contest and I'll try and upvote it as well.
- The photo must be yours NOT one that you find on the internet.
- Maximum of 2 entries per person
- There will be at least 5 prizes of 1 Steem each
- The contest closes in 7 days

Hahahaha this is quite disturbing and easily fits into this. I really wish I have one around me to also showcase. I look forward to seeing other people's entry. Well done, sir.
Keep seeking and you will find!
Hahahaha. I like that, sir.
Can I send in a selfie, or do fossils not count???
=)

You’re freaking me out!
@kus-knee,
Hope I could find one to join this interesting contest round!
Cheers~
Im hoping so too!
I'm still disturbed even after the several years since I took this photo :-)
How are the therapy sessions going!
They have been unsuccessful.
Colourful lady from Barcelona;)
She looks aggressively disturbing!
This disturbing sculpture i saw at Wat Rong Khun , Temple in Chiang Rai also known as The White Temple of Chiang Rai i did not understand the meaning of this sculpture as most temples normally have huge lions or ritual sculpture protecting the temple but this was a sculpture of skeleton skulls on fire with a bottle of whiskey sitting on one of the skulls head maybe saying don't drink this brand of whiskey otherwise you will burn up and end up like this...lol :)
Entry No #1
That is very disturbing!
It is indeed :)
Excellent idea for a contest! I love it. Well, I have seen a quite a lot weird sculptures on my travels but when it comes to disturbing art, the creepiest pieces are probably the famous statues of children with barcodes instead of faces. Installed in the center of Prague, they were created by Czech artist David Cerny.
Great entry, thanks!
I like it. its touching, @phortun
The disadvantage of participating in the contest later is that we have seen the other proposals. They are especially good!
However, I'm glad I have something that suits the theme ...
Good job friend!
Thank you very much!
This one was found in Italy. The most disturbing part, it was place in from of a church entrance. Strange !
Yes, with explanation it becomes more disturbing!
This this a sculpture from Philips museum in Nederlands. A lady with a first lamp:)
Looks like she's the victim of a terrible fire poor thing.
Found this one in Sintra, Portugal. I'm not sure what the intention was, but it sure stood out. I see at least 3 person with one with no head.
Thanks so much!
Awesome. A clear resteem and an entry will follow :-)
Thanks for your support! I look forward to your entry!
This Sculpture i encountered on my travels through Malaysia in one of there temples it was enough to scare me away from going inside the temple with a head looking like that !!
Entry No - 1.
My second entry i saw in Amsterdam it was quite sad and distributing reminding us of the days of slavery.
Entry No - 2.
Very disturbing. Thanks
Thanks @kus-knee !!
I know @kus-knee you told me not to head back to the cemetery again but i couldn't help myself so here i am again surrounded by all sorts of creepy weird stuff but this one i found sitting on the wall surrounding the tombstone it's not a big sculpture but it did look distributing but also in a true meaningful way "Love Never Dies" well at least not between these two..lol :)
Entry No #2
Time to call my shrink!
Sorry Sir i knew i shouldn't have gone back to that cemetery...lol :)
Fabulous excuse to go back through my NOLA pictures! There is a free, outdoor sculpture display at the Art Museum where disturbing works are around every corner... like this one:
I know soldiers are supposed to be stoic, but...
Yes very disturbing indeed. Glad I looked at it well before bed time!
And for my second entry, also from the NOLA trip... Don't you hate to see a man who has fallen to pieces?
Perhaps you've found you're calling......finding disturbing sculptures!
LOL! I got pretty excited when I saw this contest...
It does say "No Exit"... but really, is it necessary to melt the people who use the door?
Great find
... and this is from a place in France (one of the little towns that I find myself working in over the summer period, I can never remember all the names!). It is a cello... also melting... under the weight of music?
Great, thanks!
At first glance, it looks like a zombie :) Interesting and disturbing sculpture.
Glad it disturbs you! :)
These guys are about 8 feet tall so they are pretty creepy even during day time and I don't like to go past them at night :D
Can't blame you!
My entry :-)
Are they friendly giants?

This ballerina, like a harlequin, or, this harlequin, like a ballerina, looks very creepy. It seems that he, or she, wants to turn inside out.
Great entry!
Very interesting i will be on the hunt for anything creepy and weird be seeing you soon :)
Please don't tell me that you're headed for the cemetery again!
Haha..not a bad idea see what i can dig up...lol :)
Greetings @kus-knee from bleujay/bentleycapital,
Okay.....disturbing sculptures...it is....
Welcome to Palnet......you are on both sides of the pond.... ^__^
Cheers!
Yes indeed!
Here's my entry... these are some of the statues in Victoria, Australia that were sculpted out of old pier pylons. The guy on the left seems shady but WHAT is the guy on the right doing!?! Lol
Very cool!
Hello dear friend, without a doubt it is a very disturbing sculpture.
These images are taken in a walk through the sister city of Reistencia, one is a kind of horse made in tin, another is a kind of elephant, but so disturbing that not even my granddaughter wanted to take a photograph with that sculpture.
Excellent the contests that you make, always motivating us to participate, I wish you a wonderful week
Children are a good gauge of when things are disturbing!
My entry ;-)
Thanks for entering!

This one I found in an art museum. I already made a post on it, still unable to clear out the message the artist want to convey. Though we figured it out, the sculpture is about a Tea Boy who sells tea for money.

Very strange!
Thanks for the entry!
I think I can dig up some of these! If I can find a few, I will do a promo post :)
That would be great!
Let me go with this one. A big baby sculpture at Gardens by the Bay, Singapore.
May not really be that disturbing but I seen it at night with the light shining on it and it can be quite an unusual sight.

Hi Kus-knee, I am going to include both entries in the same comment. I hope that is okay. I have also created an accompanying post to go with. You can click on either photo and it will take you there.
Here's a guy who has taken his dieting just a little too far but boy can he cover ground. Take cover. I think he is coming for you;)
Then there was this guy who was happy enough, but a little too happy to see me, if you know what I mean?
What? Not that disturbing? Look at the shadow and then look at the statue again. Yep.
Kids these day. I'm telling ya:)
I hope I disturbed you. LOL
Thank you for hosting:)
Time to call my therapist!
