Well, I chose Poloniex, because, next to Bittrex and DEX, it's currently the biggest marketplace by far where you can buy and trade STEEM. That is also where I invested in STEEM and then transferred here to power up. But yes, you don't really need an account at a trading platform to be a valuable part of steemit and have a very valuable account that could be compromized and emptied out.

I'm a Bittrex man myself, and haven't encountered the recent Poloniex troubles. I really wish that Polo Steemians won't need to suffer through that again.
