I chose that number so that I could weed out some of the sock puppet population from these contests. And I want people who have a desire to power up or to at least not power down to partake in these contests and support the sports community and our various projects both on and off the blockchain.
It’s just an arbitrary number that I chose...and I may increase the requirements in the future. I want to reward people who do more than simply show up and expect to “get paid” ...with sock puppets.
I was just thinking that I really had to put a lot of effort into it to get to 40SP within 6 months. And I did have a little bit of luck. So I figured if someone only spends 2-3 hours per week on Steemit, it would probably take 1-4 years before one has 40 SP. Anyways if that's the case they should just mention it and the organizer of a contest can decide to provide a wildcard or not....
