I've been thinking for a couple of weeks about a contest that is both accessible to everyone and fun to participate in, while being sufficiently challenging that multiple people don't have the exact same answer. I've seen a couple of contests with a similar premise, but often they're just too easy and don't generate considerable interest, as often someone will have already posted the correct answer before you've even had a chance to read the rules.

The Premise

The aim of the contest is pretty simple - to identify the exact location in which a photograph or screenshot from Google Earth is taken from. If anyone's ever played GeoGuessr, this is basically Steemit's version of that. It may sound easy, but I've deliberately picked challenging locations so think carefully. Screenshots or photographs of a particular location will be provided. The user who guesses closest to the location wins. Simple.

How To Enter

In order to enter you just have to take a screenshot using Google maps with a location marker placed at where you think the photos were taken, such as that in the example below. The location marker can be placed by left clicking once on the map.

Post a screenshot in the comments below to be eligible for entry.

The Prizes

The competition will run for 7 days following the original post, following which time the entries will be reviewed and entries with the co-ordinates closest to the correct location chosen as winners. In the event of multiple entries being in the same place, the entry closest to the correct location by distance will win. Prizes will be issued as follows:

1st Place = 5 SBD
2nd Place = 3 SBD
3rd Place = 2 SBD
