Facto to Fiction, created in Canva

Firstly, I want to thank everyone who supported and entered the Fact to Fiction contest. You are all wonderful and have shown the strength of the writing community on Steem, the kindness of strangers through charity, and the work and talent that can be found on the blockchain.

There were 13 entries submitted! And judging has not been easy. At all.

Before I get to the winners, I want to give a special thanks to everyone who upvoted the “Opened For Entries” post pledged to charity, and everyone who donated and helped spread the word about @tarc. You have shown the good side of humanity and I hope a star grants your wishes soon!

@tarc received 10 STEEM with the contest Announcement post, 2 SBD from the payout of the Opened For Entries post, and 0.100 SBD from @traciyork.

What’s more, the payout of this post will go to TARC as well! And you can also support the animals in need at the rescue center by upvoting and resteeming this post and @tarc’s posts, or by making donations either through Steem or the other donation methods.

And now for the winners!

But first… I know, I’m dragging it out. A few of the entries scored Curie upvotes! This is wonderful to see as both a writer and a contest host.

Alright, now for the winners.

The two runner-ups are:

@jayna with her story Jenny’s Wish, and

@ellievallie with her story Fortune’s Twist!

And each receive 5 STEEM plus 0.500 SBD.

The winner of the Fact to Fiction Writing Contest, receiving 10 STEEM and 2 SBD, is…

@diebitch with her story Curing!

Congratulations!

Honourable Mentions

Judging was difficult, but there can only be 3 winners. However, these two deserve mentioning and were in the top 5:

@dirge with his story The Book of Austin, and

@jmvanbreda with his poem The Only Fact Remains.

With many thanks to @bex-dk and @josie2214 for donating SBD and STEEM for the prizes!

Congrats to the winners and runners-up, @diebitch and @jayna and @ellievallie. I only read one of those three stories (missed the other two), but will go back and catch up.

Nice turnout on your first contest @anikekirsten, well done!

Thank you, Neg! I'm so happy about the turnout and that several of them got Curied as well. Definitely going to do another soon.

Thank you, @negativer. It was a really fun contest to participate in, especially knowing it was a benefit for @tarc. I learned about the results first from a notification of your comment. 😊

Thank you so much Anike for the awesome prompt!

Excellent story, @diebitch. I loved the plot twist. Congrats on your win and hugs!

Congrats! I still get shivers thinking of your story. Wonderful read and loved it.

Awesome! I really enjoyed reading all those stories!
And just to let you know that I was inspired by your contest... because I did write a story for your contest... as the prompt was amazing, but ended up not posting it on steem (yet) because I hope the story will be good enough to be published somewhere mainstream first...

I do hope you get an acceptance letter. Would love to see what you came up with.

First place it was already rejected, hehe.
But will send it in to another place once I find the time to do some research on it.
Perhaps I'll put it back in the queue so you can give some feedback, this story is right up your alley I think.

Good luck! I would be happy to have a look at it if you want to DM a link, especially as you have done the same for me. 😊

Congrats to the winners and many thanks to the host.

Hi @anikersten - wow, what a big job you had judging so many entries, thanks for organizing this! I hope you will host or tell us about more challenges and contests like this.

Congratulations first of all to the fortunate winners - the homeless dogs helped by all the response for @tarc's charity, yeah!

And big congratulations to @diebitch, runners up @jayna and @ellievallie, and all honorables. Looking forward to curling up on the sofa tonight for a read of these and more.

Thank you! Definitely planning to do another soon. Hope to see you enter it.

So glad to hear this, @anikekirsten, I'll do my best to keep up and enter the next one. I am so smitten by steemit that I have to carve time for my work... lol.

Haha, it's a great platform indeed. If you're interested in more writing contests, @moneyinfant posts a list of them daily. And there are many to choose from. Well worth keeping an eye on.

Thank you for the tip, @anikekirsten - I'll check into that.

Thanks for the opportunity.

Thank you for entering, I really enjoyed your story. An interesting take on the prompt and a twist of note.

Oh my, this was a wonderful post to wake up to this morning! Thank you so much, and how thrilling to be a runner up! You are the BEST for creating this contest and supporting TARC, @anikekirsten. I hope the contest generated plenty of SBD!

Congrats, Jayna! Loved what you did with the prompt and the natural way the wish came about just as they were talking about it. Lovely piece!

Thank you very much. The prompt really inspired me.

Thank you, and many congratulations to @diebitch and @jayna as well!

Congrats, Ellie! Yours had twists I didn't expect. Thought her wish came early, haha. I enjoyed how you placed it in the time leading up to the wish grant and left it open for the reader to conclude.
