City has us nearly connected

in #construction7 years ago

The city postponed yesterdays inspection till today

I think the reason they pushed it off is they didn't have the pole in the ground on our property yet and they didn't have the transformer up across the street yet. So today we knew the inspection was suppose to happen but as of this morning the city still had not yet installed the pole or the transformer.

Our electrician called to let us know he was done and the inspection was about to happen

He also told us the city finally arrived and our pole was in. When we arrived they were finishing the installation of the transformer and the lines. So happy to see this going on.

The fix for things not done correctly

We are going to have to fix things not done correctly we already know that, but in the meantime things need to get done so we can live there. We will have to paint this board to protect it from the elements but it only had to go up because there is no board behind that part of the siding. This spring my husband is going to take the siding off and put the proper boards up and then but the siding back on.

One job left before we can get power

Now we are waiting for the crew with the trench digger to come and dig the trench from the pole to the house to run the underground line to the hook up at the house. Hopefully there are no weather delays and everything will be ready to go on Friday. If everything go as planned we will start to move next weekend if not it will be sometime next week. I am really hoping it is this weekend.

I love seeing the smiles on new homeowners when we show up to get them electricity. Glad to see my fellow Lineman got you guys hooked up.

Just the underground lines now. Glad it is finally being done. It has taken 2 months

I am so wishing you will be able to move in ASAP. This has been a challenge and a hard road. Glad things are sort of coming together finally.

So happy to see that transformer and poles. Now hopefully the underground on gets installed in the next day or two. I hope we can start moving in this weekend.

That's a huge step closer to move in day! Fingers crossed the weather cooperates and the line gets run without a hitch.

Fingers crossed....

wish you luck if evrything goes well my friend

So funny, to see a home being built like a puzzle, piece by piece... Best of luck with your new home! Enjoy it! Resteemed!

We once spent $1000 working with a modular home company to design a house to our own specifications. Then our circumstances changed - we had a chance to buy an antique house so we sold the land we were going to build on. We were out the $1000 which was a bummer, but now I'm kind of grateful we didn't go through with it. The kicker was - they liked the wife's design so much they added it to their catalog!

being out $1000 isn't too bad.

No, it was a decent learning experience. And we made out great selling the land we'd bought a couple years earlier - it was the big 90s real estate boom.

Of course, what did we do with the profits? Tech stocks...

Ouch... I am assuming from how you say that you lost out when it dropped out.

Yeah, we stayed in that one a little too long. Fortunately it was mutual funds, so not too awful. At least we didn't pour our savings into pets.com!

I was young and dumb and wasn't investing my money in much of anything except experiences during that boom.

Well experiences (even the bad ones) can last a lifetime and pay dividends!

Thank great blog, wonderful shares...
