And another thing that I forgot to mention, I heard the twin towers where engeneerd in a way that it could resist a plane crash.. so there was no possible way they would have collapsed.

I visited the South Tower, Dec 10 1999. They had a sign in the restaurant directly below the observation deck - which read
"These buildings are designed to withstand the direct impact of an aircraft"
