RE: Realization of a Dream "Building my own Gaming Rig"

in #computer7 years ago

Nice build! Not enough people realize that they can easily build a high end performance rig at a substantial discount from the premade models - so congratulations on making the trip!

Since this is a 'gaming' rig, there is a very important piece of information missing - the monitor. What did you decide to go with?

Sort:

I am actually using the old one I had from my previous build. Samsung SyncMaster S23A300B. 23" 1080p @60hz. I have been meaning to replace it because of the lack of HDMI but then again it goes back to budget constraints and the needs. But I have been eyeing the Asus VG248 24" @144hz as a possible replacement in the future. Or a 27" @60hz for more space power.

I can only put it this way, as a competitive gamer I will never ever go back to a 60hz monitor. A 144hz has one of the largest impacts on my gaming performance.

I recently picked up an Acer 144hz for $175, if/when you can afford it it would have one of the largest improvements to the rig.

Nice job!

I will make sure to keep that in mind. I play Overwatch casually and a 144hz monitor has been suggested to me by friends more times than I could count. It really is tempting, thus I heavily consider getting a 144hz monitor to replace the antique one.

Thanks a lot for the input.

By the way, which game are you competitively into? :)
