I happened to find a photography contest by @wolfje by some of the great posts some people have made. The contest can be found here.
This is one of my personal favorite photos. I had recently bought a new 50mm lens for my Canon EOS camera, we had traveled to our summer cottage to enjoy midsummer AND my wife had made us a bit of rhubarb juice from our own rhubarbs. It was taken in 2017 and on an island in Gulf of Bothnia.
We had just arrived and we had a really nice sunlight, so before unpacking anything else I dashed out with the rhubarb juice and tested my new lens and aperture a bit. I managed to get this photo which is not perfect, but remind me of the very few summer days and the joy of doing something I love. I miss the summer and the joy.
I've had more successful photos but they do not bear the same emotions behind them.
Artistic as well as smart! Some people just have it all! It would go well with a sausage!!
Well we did have some sausages afterwards too ;)
nice shot. wish you best of luck
Thanks :)
Great picture! ♥
Thank you, I'm happy of the photo too!
That better not be ale, you cannibal!
Read the post before spamming with your comments ;)
It's rhubarb juice.
I did read the post thoroughly before posting, I assure you :). I understand that it was very unclear in my joke that I had seen that it was rhubarab juice, sorry about that but surely if I was spamming I would self-vote my comment ;) ?
Oh I did not take that in consideration, I am very sorry :(
No problem, it’s great to see such great creators like you on Steemit, driving on the community :)
Great photo by the way, the lighting is amazing!
Nice picture, I love the memories it brings back and rhubarb is very interesting, I love it. Please also follow me to be eligible for entry, it would be a pity if you missed the notification if you won. Good luck!
Damn, I was sure I didn't forget anything after reading the post three times.
Thanks for the comment :) If you have never had homemade rhubarb juice, you should do it at least once.
LOL, no problem. You are now in the competition.
the rhubarb juice is a great idea. Did you add sugar to it as rhubarb from itself is quite bitter?
Thank you. And sugar is recommended, but not too much.. maybe the half of amount of the rhubarb? Or just add as much as you can, as the more sugar the better
I figured as such, that’s my problem... I love sugar and I take too much of it, I’m trying to reduce that now otherwise I’ll end up with diabetes one day. In the summer I should be ok to give it a try! Thanks for the inspiration!
Looks really good. Background is blurry, I like it. Which Canon model did you use?
I have an older Canon, it's Canon EOS 500d :)
I'm trying to get bigger selection of lenses and maybe later buy a better camera body, because lack of lenses is a bigger issue than having and old camera. If you're into DSLRs :)
I'm not a photographer but I know a bit about lenses and DSLRs. My father had Nikon D3100 with 18-55 lens. I know lens is really big issue when it comes to photography hehe.
That's the thing, if you want to get the best use of a DSLR you should have at least 2-3 different kinds of lenses, depending on what kind of photography you want to do :)
I've owned my Canon for almost 10 years already (maybe 7-9 years now) and so far I have 3 different lenses, soon I'll be getting my 4th and I'm excited :)
lol. It's really great. Which lens do you suggest for close scene shooting? Like product photography?
I'm not that good with lenses specifically, but if you would have a full frame DSLR instead of a cropped one.. I would go with something between 50-100mm, maybe having a "real" macro lens could help. Having a small aperture value (big aperture) can help to get nice blurry background in the images only by photography, but you can always edit that afterwards.
Usually in product photography you can have better lighting of the object, so aperture is not that necessary.
From more affordable price set, maybe this or similar: https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/products/details/lenses/ef/macro/ef-100mm-f-2-8l-macro-is-usm
I understood, thank you for your help :)
rhubarb juice! Is that tasty?
By the way, not a bad photography.
It is tasty, requires some sugar though but you can pretend it's healthy even with the added sugar. It's quite sour alone.
